    This show is throughly entertaining, I reccomend it to everyone that I can. As well as having full marks for being thrilling to watch with a wonderful cast, it also provides much needed visibility, telling the story of a realistic and positive lesbian relationship. This show will be life changing and I hope very much that if gets a second season and more.

    Best period romantic drama-comedy that I've ever seen on TV. It's set in the 1800s and it's' based on the secret diaries of a intelligent, strong, romantic woman that really existed and loved science and travelling, Anne Lister.

    This is its own programme, a confident, smart period drama with fabulous sets and costumes, especially Anne’s top hats and black suits, and a large warm heart.

    This show should be great, what with its sterling pedigree and beguiling protagonist, but hits too many things from the wrong angle, as though the prestige TV machine that made it went on the fritz partway through.
