It’s obvious that HBO is paying off their reviewers. Why the Stark contrast in perceived quality, critics? It’s kind of funny, whenever critics rate something positively expect it to be **** and them to be paid off to write good reviews.

I’m actually depressed after seeing what these morons have done to this show! Arya Jill’s night king!!! Nooooooooooo, it’s been dumbed down for awhile and i could have lived with that. This conclusion to Game of Thrones goes in the continuity of the precedent season, where they basically send to the trash everything that they previously established. This is the most unsatisfying season ever. Should you wtach it? Well, it will depend if you are overall concerned by the plot or if you just want to see some action, plot twists and feel the suspense. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Basically, the worst season. Writers were so lazy. We've waited two years for this, really ? Arya and her horse coming from nowhere, Cersei killed by bricks, mad king killed so easily, Arya can't escape easily a city under siege but can kill the mad king and not be viewed by thousands of his soldiers, daynerys going mad after her victory, the hound fight is no vengeance at all, Bran is useless, Jon Snow didn't kill him or Cersei (basically the prince that wasn't really promised), Varys just wtf, Sam and others fought against white walkers but didn't die while qualifiers soldiers did (is it someWalt Disney ?). Actors themselves are so disappointed they try to hide their disappointment when they're asked about this season. Expand

Wasn't it not even a few episodes ago he refused winterfell because he was no longer brandon stark? Jon easily could have married Dany instead of murdering her.

Is this bittersweet enough for you? Or just plain old **** I hope the writers enjoyed butchering one of shows of all time.

The most relevant question that ardent GOT fans need to ask is whether season 8 is terrible because of the writing ... or because the popular fan-theories stewing over the 2-year wait has not come to pass.

For many years, people have watched and re-watched season 1 to date, studying every character, every conversation, and every moment down to the smallest detail. As at the end of season 7; season 8 was bound on a highly predictable trajectory. Enter season 8, and the audience is left with quite the opposite. What has always remained a constant throughout the lifespan of the show is that "you either die the hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" (vice-versa).

Perhaps the main reason for the mixed emotions of Season 8 is that we see some of the most beloved characters turn into villains. Still, the complex and layered dialogue between characters is sorely missing in this final season of GOT. Instead, the audience is left to draw insight into characters motives and intention by gauging their facial expressions and body language against mesmerising and beautiful settings.

One can't help but sympathise with the show-runners in drawing this detail-orientated and truly epic show to close in the space of 6 episodes alone (despite their extended lengths). It is indeed difficult to bid farewell to any long-running show - but GOT - is perhaps the most difficult to part ways with in recent years. The mortality of the characters that we have all grown to love and hate over 8 seasons is what makes GOT one of the kind. Season 8 neither needs saving nor (dare I say) shall ruin the entire series beyond repair. It shall remain the greatest television show in history for years to come.

Which is COMPLETELY ok. Not every episode needs to be 10/10 heart-in-your-mouth action, game of thrones has always had slower episodes, and im kind of glad they didnt rush straight into the war from the get go. Building tension has always been GoTs strong suite, we know whats coming, we usually always do with this show.

The thing that really sets GoT apart from any other show is that, 99 percent of the time, when we know something is coming, GoT delivers and then some. Think of all of those big episodes in the past, the big ones we waited eagerly for. The red wedding, hardhome, botb, winds of winter (my personal favorite epside of all time) and now, we KNOW whats coming.

And i for one am feeling very secure in the idea that GoT will deliver. It has earned that trust, by delivering so many times before.

I am READY. A good start, leads to an amazing end.

The last day and night before the clash between living and dead is portrayed masterly, especially in terms of story and characters interactions and the feelings they sense during what it might be their last day alive. Everyone decides to do and say what they need to do and say before dying and that is conveyed to the spectator in the most human way. Of course this makes dialogues simple and politics to almost nothing. At this point everyone had better acknowledge that GoT is made up especially of emotions and action, like it or not.

Game of Thrones has always stood strong and made tough choices to keep the series fresh and its central characters extremely important. The revelation of Jon Snow's heritage, Daenerys' ascension as a new superpower, the battle with the Night King, and Cersei's resistance all feel mishandled. So much of season 8 feels so rushed. Sometimes the show's writing and narrative choices feel great but the biggest moments often come off as rushed and insincere which will annoys probably a majority of fans. Even in the series finale, the most important episode to land in the entire GoT catalog, idiotic choices in storytelling, flash forwarding, and more leave room for an inappropriate amount of questions that needed to be answered. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone cruising through the reviews so I'll keep from any real plot reveals that could spoil the fun for another viewer but I just can't be happy with what happened in the final episode, which started off fine and then beings to fall apart after the 1/3 point of its 79 minute runtime. I can't believe the show's writers forced everything into 6 episodes when HBO offered them a solid 10 episodes which were probably required to bridge gaps and let big moments really breathe. If Martin's books follow the same general path of the TV series there's going to be a second uproar from fans. Martin has a chance to not be so ignorant and hasty as the show's executive producers and directors and I doubt Martin would be so numb to a good ending that he'd risk repeating the final events the same way the show did. This is the risk you run when you get ahead of yourself. Perhaps the show should have taken more time off? But the final season had already skipped a year to make sure it was polished up. No matter what, HBO will surely be spiteful toward GoT's show heads for ending things so rocky. The first 7 seasons all had their special moments and the rise of Jon Snow seems like such an easy home run to hit and yet I have to completely disagree with where the show's creators lead his path when all is said and done despite having several special moments in season 8. Perhaps the only things gotten right in the final moments of GoT is the remaining Stark family's bow-tied end, Daenerys' outcome, Tyrion Lannister's huge importance being recognized more and more. Just about everything else felt wrong, it felt half-assed with plot twists. Expand

This is not the end of Game of Thrones, this season is a joke and does not represent the actual ending of the show. That ending is something we will have to play out in our minds, and or wait for George RR Martin to fix it for us. Expand

Visually impressive, yet utterly moronic. The characters are there, but they're all skin-deep, and some behave like different people. If you care for Game of Thrones, the fantasy genre, or even just like good stories, this season should leave you mortified.

Jon Snow having been resurrected, finding out to be a Targaryen and true heir to the throne for nothing, Arya meeting the best mentors for nothing, Tyrion being dumbed out by the writers because of lack of imagination, all the prophecies and character development and foreshadowing.. All for f-ing nothing. Dumb & Dumber managed to ruin one of the best show ever just before the finish line. All those prophecies and things that were developing in the end were for nothing as they were not even used for a purpose. It might have been salvageable if they waited for the books to be finished or dedicate the entire season to the night king battle, while at the same time depicting very slowly but surely Daenerys as a villain, as they wanted to, or simply pick another route. And then! Only then dedicate another season to end all of it properly... Dany doing all that is just out of character, after freeing so many people, breaker of chains, after liberating slaves she just snaps like that. What the actual f-? Episode 6: Easily one of the most disappointing episodes not only of this season but of the whole series. There is a petition to remake it all but I doubt it will happen (i'd really be glad if it did). Season starting sub-par, below average of every season only for it to get worse each time.. after episode 1 or 2 it was just a free fall without a parachute. I feel bad for all the actors, engineers, artists and crew members who worked really really hard to deliver an astonishing thing visually, audio wise, fx wise and acting wise but which were ultimately went down the **** hole because of some stupid writers. The crew and actors deserve an 11/10 all day everyday (which is why this is a 3/10 and not a 0/10)... the **** writers? (negative) -10/10. This show deserved sooo much more yet got so much less because of incompetent writers. Truly sad to see some dumb writers defecate on a masterpiece where people put their heart and soul into. Although the ending is the worst ever, and the night king having deserved a whole season dedicated to it, this still remains one of the best shows ever. We'll see the real ending when the books come out and not this rushed lackluster thing they call the ending season to a series that took almost one decade to make. Jon Snow, true heir and king to the Iron Throne, king in the north and king beyond the wall. That's how it should have ended. Either him on the throne or nobody. Expand

Writing, has been horrific, cliche, deus-ex-machina every episode to subvert the audiences expectations, attention to detail went out the window this was painfully manifest in every battle scene to the invisible pirate ships that decloaked like Klingon Birds of Prey after firing anti-dragon bolts that would make a modern Anti-Air battery blush all this done in the name of creating some great cinematic experience, here's a clue,,, it doesn't! it's cheap and undeserving of what has been for the most part an excellent television series.
The decline that started somewhere around season 5 matured into a festering heap of dung by season 8.
Having just watched the finale, I was so glad to see those end credits because it meant the torturous death of the great series was finally over.

It is the competing loyalties, the loves and enmities that enmesh the Lannisters, Starks, Targaryens and the rest, after all, and the questions Game of Thrones poses about conscience and corruption and the manifestations of power, that will propel us through to the end.
