The fourth season of Game of Thrones is another very successful season of the show, which puts an end to a villain as hated as it is iconic (the applause here goes to the actor!), concludes the dispute between the Night's Watch and the Wildlings and makes , in fact, Tyrion Lannister as the real mascot, in a succession of events that leave sensationally speechless.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Game of Thrones just keeps getting better and better and this season was even better than the first three seasons and it is still my 2nd favorite show of all time. Peter Dinklage, Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Rory McCann, Gwendoline Christie, Aidan Gillen, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Alfie Allen, Iwan Rheon, and John Bradley gave outstanding leading performances and the supporting performances from Daniel Portman, Hannah Murray, Pedro Pascal, Diana Rigg, Charles Dance, Conleth Hill, Jerome Flynn, Rose Leslie, Michiel Huisman, Kerry Ingram, Jack Gleeson, and Natalie Dormer were terrific. The fighting and battle scenes were excellent and really awesome especially the battle between the Night's Watch and the Wildlings, the fight between Brienne and The Hound, and the fight between Oberyn and Gregor. The writing and storytelling continues to be great. The visual effects were spectacular especially the skeleton Wights, the dragons (specifically Drogon), and Drogon's fire. The makeup effects were very impressive especially the Night King, the White Walker, and the Giants. The costumes were fantastic especially all of Emilia Clarke's outfits, Gwendoline Christie's outfits, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's outfits, Lena Headey's outfits, and Sophie Turner's outfits. The score and all of the music in this season was great. Also the final scene was great it was so cool to Arya finally safe and getting somewhere new. Season 4 of Game of Thrones is another A+ season. Expand

The fourth season of the fantasy hit drama is a masterpiece and without a doubt, it is right up there where Breaking Bad is when it comes to the terrific writing and directing of that season and it’s the only season that considers to be the very best of all other seasons of Game of Thrones.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the absolute best season of Thrones. While Season 3 had individually harder hitting moments, season 4 is riveting throughout, starting off at breakneck pace and never slowing down. While the war of the five kings ended in season 3, season 4 focuses on picking up the scraps of war and showing its effects on the characters that still inhabit this world, and it does so wonderfully. Great acting, amazing dialogue, and fantastic culminations, continuations and beginnings to a myriad of charcter arcs permeate the entire season, giving it a sense of rivety otherwise unseen in the show. Stellar moments that would define the show and its fan community took place here, with more memorable scenes of monumental acting, fight scenes and character development than one can sucessfully keep count on. An absolute joy all throughout, and easily earning a 10/10 as the best Thrones season of all time. Expand

Pedro Pascal was a fantastic addition as Oberyn Martell and the true highlight of the season. Pretty much everything going on in King's Landing is near perfection. I was a bit disappointed with how slow Jon's and Daenerys's storylines have been progressing and it definitely plays like a more background plot than the main one IMO, Specially when compared to other storylines going on.

Peter Dinklage gave a show one more time, his character was in some cliffhanger situations, wich there was a moment of happiness and hope and just after sadness, he was switching emotions in so little time, that was great, and he also had one speech in this season that i really though it was amazing, he put his emotions on that speech that make it being great, you could feel his hate there. Lena Headey dispense comments, one more time she is amazing, with a very similar job that she had in the last season. Kit Harington had some nice moments in this season, some moments that he was leading that were really awesome, he could give to the moment some strength. Emilia Clarke here didn't had much going on this season, she could delivery sad moments and pass some ideas of what her character was thinking, but i didn't though it was that good, it was at least ok. Sophie Turner character had an apparently flip in this season, she did a good job. Maisie Williams did one more time doing a great job, i bought her situation with Clogane, and how without a choice she was, in the action moments i also though that she did a very good job. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau now trying to be more of a good guy, i believe that he was very successful, a bad guy turning into a good one normally seems forced, but here, with the script together with the actor i liked it. Aidan Gillen was one more time very mysterious, but now we had a little better idea of what his plans are, he can sell that sickness of his character. Jack Gleeson did such of a good job in the whole series that he was so easy for us to hate him, that was definely a perfect job of the character. Charles Dance as well, did a terryfic job. Rory McCann during the whole show was fearless and we got that from his phisicality. Gwendoline Christie was pretty good as well, she had some sarcastic and debauchery faces, she was pretty cool. Iwan Rheon is building of the most scary characters of the show, he is completely unpredictable, he is trully evil and he can make us believe in that, it is so natural that i also got scared of the actor. Pedro Pascal did a very good job, he was was debauchery, he had blood in his eyes for revenge, hate, i think that he sold his character very well.
The story generally is very good, but i think that are some flaws, are some story lines that i really didn't liked and was just for have more minutes, but it was completely unnecessary, like some Sam moments was just wasted and not necessary at all, it felt completely wrong somethings there. There are som Daenerys parts that i didn't saw things moving on neither, it is nice to see her rulling some place already, showing layers of what she is doing, but in other hand that felt so repetitive that i didn't enjoyed that very much.
The big thing about this universe, it is because for some point of view, it is really real, real in the sense that anything can happen anytime, so person died out of nowhere, that can happen in real life, and that can change other people life, so that unpredictability make the show be so great, like there are things that you see and may seems to be the same standard journey that are in other stories, but here it isn't, that's perfect.
The choreography of fights here isn't the best yet, some are good and others aren't, some are bad. I think that are some really bad fighting sequences here, that the editing really didn't do a good job done, so many cuts that it felt like a transformers movie, that wasn't good, but some were really nice, the whole battle of watchers, i though that was amazing, i could really get chills in some moments, the sequence was pretty well done.
This season was one more time pretty damn good, the develop of the story is still making me get stuck to it, the action moments aren't the best, but the main thing is that the great quality of the narrative and the events can't make my attention get lost in this rich universe.

Season 4 continued on par with the great storytelling and scenes that were present in the previous seasons. The old and new characters all were interesting and they have a lot of depth. The battle at the wall was well done and it had heartfelt moments throughout. The trial by combat was both the most frustrating and gut wrenching thing. Overall It was an amazing season.

This is by far the best season of Game of Thrones to date. The show continues with even more unexpected events and unpredictable storytelling. There're actually no episodes that I would consider as boring or less impressive, which is a great improvement since season one and two. The golden aspect of GoT is the characters, it's the major thing that makes the show so great. There're much more going on with the characters in this fourth season, they interact with other characters we already know but who comes from the other part of the world. There's no question that this is a great show, and the much higher amount of action is the greatest thing. The dialogs have become much more entertaining due to change of content. The previous great aspects like unpredictability, great music, unique cinematography, realism and flawless characters are still constant. But the story has developed at a much greater and action-packed way even though we still have much build-ups. It's therefor really a great season, and the story keeps going, so there's still much to tell. The best thing with this season is that the characters we all know but who never have met face to face meet each other. That's so touching!

It's an almost flawless continuation with great characters and actors; especially the newcomer Kristofer Hivju!
But it still do suffer with slowness and lack of long-term action. But the action that do exist in this season is awesome! To keep it short; this is what Game of Thrones should be like, not slow and boring like the first two seasons. My overall rating for each episode is 7.5, and because it really is so much better than season three, and due to I really enjoyed it, am I giving this fourth season of Game of Thrones an 8/10.

Even it's slower moments push things forward in some way. The season concludes perfectly leaving us satisfied with the conclusions to it's plot-lines and pointing towards big things on the horizon.

The biggest improvement this season has is probably with the action. There's more of it than there has been before. Minor battles rival the all out wars in other media. The big battle here is unbelievable. Impressive effects and extremely high-stakes. It had me sitting on the edge of my seat with fear and anticipation. Same goes for the several one-on-one duels in this season. They are just as tense and incredibly brutal. To put it simply as I can the action is as flawless and believable as the writing.

This simply another excellent season for this masterpiece of a show. Some plot-lines can be a little slow at times, but it doesn't matter because even it's slower moments are gripping and involving. When it comes to handling multiple plots, characters, and events Game of Thrones is second to none. This season only amplifies that fact and spills more blood than it's predecessors in the process. Game of Thrones is still on top in season 4.

    I give season 4 a 9.8/10.

But this season it dealt with 4 major character deaths and one big major battle. And this show will only be gettin better and better.

Season 4 of "Game of Thrones" was superb. The question is how can Season 5 top it? Simply brilliant on every level. Whilst not reaching the horror level of "The Red Wedding", Season 4 holds enough great moments to keep old fans happy.

Its a really nice series, but unlike most people here I look at an entire episode and not just the highlights. And the thing is, the highlights are 5-10 min of every episode, the rest is just pure talk, not interesting talk like Breaking Bad had, but just lame, old, boring storys from people that dont know how to express themself in a short manner.

Season 4 makes great effort to fill in the extra plot left from book 3 A Storm of Swords. Although it doesn't have the greatest pacing this time round, some major characters are left in the mix without a contingent story plot. While other fan favourite characters become more mediocre with the screen time there given, like Arya, Daenerys, Littlefinger and even Tyrion, despite the Trial being his greatest storyline to date. And the characters who are left in the mix have much more pressing issues, Stannis and his decision to go to the wall could of been the driver for his scenes, yet he only appears in 4 episodes in the entire season and all of which have very short scenes. And the highly built up scene from season 3 final where Yara set's out to resuce Theon, all dashing and brave and loving and everything. When the scene comes, and it's only one scene when she comes. She just decides to leave him there after fleeing from the enemy. You don't see her for the rest of the season. And that was the heroic mission and story arc that was built up. Not saying that this season isn't great cause it very much is with outstanding episodes like 'The Children' 'The Watchers on the Wall' 'Laws of Gods and Men' and 'The Mountain vs The Viper' all very grand episodes that deserve praise, but it equals out to the number of episodes that were lagging and not as interesting or as investing, Even in the episode 'The Lion and The Rose' where Joffrey died there was nothing but that to keep me enthralled, it was a bad episode, Game of Thrones has a Bad Episode. Nothing happened aside from Bran's vision nothing happened, no interesting dialogue between characters. no in dept. story's of the enchanted world. Only Bran's vision in the tree was the most enchanting thing about this episode, and then Nothing, Joffrey dies but you could tell from a mile away that something was going to happen. And the Other bad episode 'MockingBird' which had a lot happening, but did not execute it well, and no real great peformances in this episode either, probably the weakest acted episode of the series. Never the less these will be thought of as great episodes because of all the FANSERVICE. But Game of Thrones is more than that and it's first 3 season's proved that. But still this season felt as though only FANSERVICE was the key target for this season. All of Daenerys scenes, Sam and Gilly, Grey worm and Missandei, Hot Pie, Shock Value for a characters death, Arya being badass. None of these scenes had any real impact at all. They all felt poorly done with the sake of only being there to please the fans which should never be the case if you want to tell a well done story that the past 3 have done. The critical reviews have it all wrong, this is the worst season of the series, but it's not bad, but don't be fooled by it, it has a lot of Fan Service and it did not pay off well. The Acting in this season was pretty well done, not as great as compared to the other seasons. The show stealer once again is Peter Dinklige as Tyrion Lannister who is greater than ever in this season and in the episode 'The Laws of Gods and Men' he provides a complety different side to the lovable character we know. I I would also like to say that 'The Watchers on the Wall' episode had one of the best Acting ensemble for an episode ever. Every character felt crucial and unique with great Acting by Owen Teale who turned the minor villain character into a badass leader. Other episodes such as The Mountain vs The Viper and The Children also delivered grand acting performances from Pedro Pascal as Obryan Martell and Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister and also Rory McCann as Sandor Clegan. Overall the season is really great, but it's filled with many unneeded scenes that were tempt to look like scene stealers and fell flat on there back, also a lot of FANSERVICE and not enough emotional baggage to take away also not a lot of heart put into the characters this time when writing a scene. The Season is still really good and I'm looking forward to Season 5. Expand

And the way Aria left the Hound, presented the coin, and sailed off, was perfect. The burnt child and locking up the dragons, heartbreaking. Over and over again, this season hit all the right notes. The first season has made me love the characters from the very first episode (except Joffrey of course). The second season was forgettable (except the final two episode of that season) but not terrible. The third season did better but I still prefer the first season.

And in this case of season four, I still do.

Since the fourth season is the second part of the third book of A Song of Ice and Fire series, I think the writers had a bit of a difficult time splitting the third book into half in terms of story timing.

But, they made this flaw up by putting every shocking or memorable moment at almost every episode

Episode 1: Arya was badass with The Hound. Memorable.
Episode 2: King Joffrey dead. Shocking.
Episode 3: Daenerys launches broken slave chains into a city full of slaves. Memorable.
Episode 4: THE WHITE WALKERS. SHOCKING!
Episode 6: Peter Dinklage giving out his winning Emmy speech. Oops, sorry, I meant, Tyrion unleashes his inner anger by demanding trial by combat. Memorable.
Episode 7: Littlefinger pushes Lysa. Memorable
Episode 8: …………don’t make me describe what happened in the end of this episode. But **** shocking!
Episode 9: Well, the episode is entirely memorable with its epic battle scenes.

The plot of the whole series cannot move itself. It had to rely on character development and it has to be good, and of course, it’s brilliant. This is why this is my favorite show. In order to love a show, I must love the characters, not just like them.

Tryion and Sansa had the most interesting and the best character development this season. First for Tyrion. He is becoming the mixture of why I loved him now and the Tryion we first knew. While for Sansa, she became from an innocent , naive girl to a much braver, confident woman. I am interested how she plays out next season.

However, two characters did not have a significant character development this season. Theon still becomes Reek. Bran still eyerolls. Come on writers, make them actually interesting next season!

The graphics are of course good, but that’s not why people like this show.

In terms of the final episode this season, it did tie some loose-ends set up in the previous season and this season, but it did not have the season finale vibe for me. It was anti-climatic. But hey! At least they did not add Khalessi at the end of the finale!

The writers said that this episode was their finest hour yet. Well, I disagree. If they added this erm, "Lady Stoneheart", then it would have been their finest hour. When I read what ":ady Stoneheart" meant, this should have been in the finale and I think it could have been a badass moment of the show. I am crossing my fingers that this would be in the next season.

Overall, while I still consider season one to be their best, season four’s obvious highlight is some good character development. And I can’t wait for season four. Well, maybe I can, but, you know what I mean.

TV shows that can do this to me are exceedingly rare (The Sopranos and the modern Battlestar Galactica are the only other two that come to mind on this level).

This was perhaps the most cohesive and coherent season so far, which is saying a lot, actually. For the most part we've stopped meeting hordes of new characters, and we've time now to get more deeply-invested in the ones we do know. Obviously we're going to lose some along the way, that's the beauty of a series like Game of Thrones (or Walking Dead, for that matter). Unless you've read the books, the not knowing what's coming is pure joy. This season felt somehow even more frenzied than the last several, leaving viewers dangling from perilous event to perilous event, from show to show. Although I've been impressed with every season so far, all the stakes feel even higher this season. Set design, cinematography, writing, direction, acting, action scenes, costumes, CGI - all still completely stellar - with the usual highlight being the ability of the writers to layer together all these concurrent stories seamlessly. Yes, this is a show it is mandatory to watch from the beginning of season 1. There are 8 million plotlines going on. And that's where the magic remains with the program. The fact that viewers are never allowed to get lost or become disinterested in any of these storylines. It's a tremendous dance, and one that is bringing all the lines together - slowly at first, and now much more rapidly. This season is bookended by a premiere and closer that are among the strongest episodes from any season. And the season ends looking forward, with many of the aforementioned plotlines having grown increasingly complex, with the highest stakes yet.

This really is the pinnacle of what TV can be.

Una de las mejores series de los últimos tiempos. Me gusta absolutamente todo de la serie. Y una mención a parte merece Tyrion para el clamo justicia desde aquí.

Production values are amazing, the acting is terrific, the characters are absorbing, YES! YES! This series gives new meaning to the phrase "Please stand by for our next episode /installment" Hey man, I'm still waiting for my WhiteWalkers to rampage, WHERE are my dragons, indeed. It's soft porn, it's gay porn, it's male rape, female rape, genital butchery by crossbow, massacres galore, we could almost slip a few walking dead characters in here and they would fit just perfectly. By golly, it's goal is to keep you coming back for more any which way possible stillborn subplots and ALL, and it succeeds massively on that level. Expand

It's a good show. Really high quality in acting, costumes etc. BUT... i think the plot of the original story is just too complex, with too many characters to make a tv show out of it and this often translates in many flashes of sub-plots (bouncing from one plot to the other in the same episode ) with lots of characters that can't be fully and deeply described in a tv show, thus making aIt's a good show. I love the show, and the writers are exemplary for being new in the "series" scene. Great job guys! I look forward to the books unfolding. I am happy to see that you two are able to bring back the full Si-Fi feel in building the show. Ever thought of doing a series for the books by Robert Jordan? Specifically "The Wheel of Time" because you 2 could pull it off!

Great season up there with 1 and 2. Not as much nudity but makes up for it in drama and action. To me it's Season 2,1,4,3 all great some better than others. One issue is...............where are the damn Dragons!!!!!!!!!!

I find everything about this show perfect except that this season I think the story is progressing too fast. This season lacks a central plot, is more packed with action and is more dynamic but now the subplots seem to have less gravity. Due to this reason I sort of became more detached to the characters so at the moment for me it is like watching a great football tournament but my team is not in it this season. Still GOT is the best series that HBO came up with. Expand

So much tension, so much drama, I have no life and cannot work properly without a dose of GoT! Ok after Breaking Bad I was given a breather for a couple of months which seemed like a year!! but I am glad I waited this long to start watching series 4! I am engrossed by the whitewalkers, what if they ruled on the iron throne!! Scared I am!!

I cannot breath proper after seeing the trial of Tyrion, again what a damned great performance!!!! Oberon you sexy beast, stop it, you appear to be enjoying the Lannisters and their chaos, Jaime you are kind but it won't work! Shae you are a shame (acted wonderfully again). Cersei chin up you can still throw a good punch even after losing a child (one would have thought you would calm down by now). Just to let you know though, I actually miss Joffrey.

The show is good because the story (the original one, the books' one) is action-packed, violent and quick. The writers took that and tried to adapt it to a show, making the inevitable cuts here and there, but keeping in mind the pace must be fast, and shocking at times. So this 8 really goes to the books rather than the show. S04E06 shows the best Tyrion yet.

It was slow and boring and I am not really into these types of shows. I'd rather have a live action Call of Duty.
I feel that this show does not meet the potential that it has shown to post-viewers via advertisements and other ways of attention.

There is some solid acting, some bad acting, great scenery and atmospheric locations, but boy do they need a lot off talking to move the plot along. Same with the books really. They get sluggish after the first two, unreadable after the third. So show, don't tell.

This narrative pokiness is redeemed, as usual, by the machine-tooled professionalism of the production, the lavish attention to the mock-medieval costumes and setting, and the mostly crisp, understated acting by the international cast.... More than ever, though, you may find yourself impatient for the plot to wind around to the more engaging story lines.

The acting is delightful, the visuals are sumptuous, the stories couldn't be more surprising.

The storytelling seems to have hit a new peak of relaxed confidence. In every scene you get a sense of steady forward motion. New characters are introduced and old characters deepened, and devious new plots are laid out so deftly that it's not until midway through episode three that you look back over everything that came before and laugh at yourself for not having seen a particular surprise coming
