So after watching the great re-imaged Battlestar Galactica 2003 series and the original 1978 series, it was time to go back and watch the 1980 spin-off series "Galactica". Alright, this is a weird one after just finishing watching the original 1978 series. Suddenly, it is 30 years later and Battlestar Galactica has now found Earth, 99% of your favourite characters are no where to be found without any explanation. The ship is ruled by a geeky, Vulcan-like 12 year old with blond hair, again without any explanation. Adama is still the leader of the Battlestar's military and played by the same actor, the first episode they try to make him look older by taping what looks like a cotton beard to his face lol (the beard looks better in later episodes). Boxey is now grown up and a main character. Apollo's son is also grown up and the other main character (again no explanation of what became of Apollo is given). But rest assured, the two main characters still look like rip-offs of Star Wars' Luke and Han Solo lol. The best way to describe this show would be Star Man the movie crossed with Little House on the Prairie with a slight touch of Dukes of Hazard thrown in. Despite all of this the show wasn't that bad, it had some moments when it made me laugh and the plot was somewhat interesting. But it didn't live up to being as good as the original since most of our favourite characters were missing without explanation or just popped in for a couple of minutes on a couple of episodes. The show does give an explanation of what happened to Starbuck at the end when the same actor guest stars in a Flash back story, which was probably the best episode before it had a corny religious element thrown in at the end of the episode (a staple of all of the Battlestar series). I'm giving this a 6/10 for being an average TV show which is okay to watch but not that exciting really.… Expand
