I watched this for the first time only a few months ago. I have known about it for quite some time and knew of its reputation. Honestly, I don't see what all the fuss was about and why this series stands out more than many other more superior ones. Still, I thought it was fun and I enjoyed it.
Visually it's pretty decent, not as high end as some Animes of its time are, but good enough.I watched this for the first time only a few months ago. I am very mixed with my thoughts on the characters. I loved every single one of them, except the main protagonist who comes across as extremely stupid for a majority of the series.
Story is, both good and flawed at the same time. FSN does have a very interesting premise that plays out as pretty decently, and yet also feels like they barely touch upon most of the lesser story arcs, leaving allot of loose ends or disappointing "conveniences" to rush the plot along.
Overall:
Fate/Stay Night is not the Juggernaut of Anime as I was led to believe. But it's still pretty good and worth watching.
Side Note:
FSN: Unlimited Blade Works is VERY worth watching and more or less is what FSN should have been (in my opinion.) Pretty much one of the best "What if?" scenarios I have ever seen. If you liked FSN but felt underwhelmed then this movie will give the closure you desperately seek… Expand
