Imagine if the current writers for Family Guy wrote for Futurama, on a network that allowed them to show as much nudity and violence as they wanted to.

Many of the jokes are immature, something I am perfectly fine with. Unfortunately they have this really bad habit of explaining obvious jokes over and over again to the point it is super frustrating.

All of the characters fit in to a "theme" and that is about as deep as they get, there is no character growth and all of them are stupid. Even the intelligent ones. The overall "crew" is also clearly inspired by Futurama.

We have the loveable, well intentioned idiot who is often represented as the heart of the group.

A mutant that serves as a bodyguard and love interest.

A robot/cyborg with a drug problem. Also best friends with the idiot.

A senile/insane super scientist.

A cute alien species that pretends to be a pet.

A monstrous character that cannot gel with the rest of the team.

This probably would have been fine if it had some sort of story to follow, they even introduce a general hook within the first couple of episodes. Unfortunately a majority of the episodes are really just sketches loosely tied together. The last episode of the season could have been aired in any order and it wouldn't have been a problem.

Maybe the target audience is just that, however the way the story is told is lazy and the jokes are hopelessly lame. The series quotes Futurama and Rick & Morty, two wildly acclaimed shows, raising expectations high, only to reveal itself soon after as a jumble of overly-explained jokes and bad timed farts.

The characters are far from being original and fail to convey anything.
The art style is a general rip-off of other similar animation masterpieces, the animations are standard for every emotional state they want to communicate and copy-pasted for the entire series.

Boring.
I give 1/10 for the voice acting, which is perhaps the only enjoyable thing.

What I wanted to say is: watch this, it's funny. SPACE funny. Expand

And remember how Samuel Jackson used to be in everything? Now, it's Lance Reddick's turn apparently. Anyway, it's very hard to watch given all the amped-up cursing, the at times nightmarish character animations, and the gross and crass plot of it all. Thankfully, there's no way with Netflix falling back on its heels that this abortion will have any support for a second season. Expand
