Look back on the movie and series, strong females, strong minorities, strong values that aren't always traditional, great writing and great action. By any standard quality stuff. But I couldn't make it through episode 2, it's just trying so hard to tick the boxes and push popular contemporary themes, they forgot to write well and bring in actors believable in the roles. What they are trying to do and good drama aren't mutually exclusive, but I think maybe when you forget to start with with good drama and mix up the characters, and start with a check list of characters and try to fit that into a good drama, it just doesn't work. But hey that's just me, if you like it, good for you. Expand

This is such a cool series that expands on the movie in an immensely satisfying way, constructing a tapestry of crime.

The Fargo series 1-3 reached silver screen levels of cinematic storytelling, this is something totally different, totally inferior. Fargo series 4 is far too consumed with race and politics to tell a compelling story. This wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for the fact that it has nothing new to say on race or political issues. I'll stick to rewatching 1-3 Expand

Out of 4 seasons, the first was my least favorite because it was just a retelling of the original with a better villain. Still loved it though. This iteration is so far my least favorite. This iteration is so far my least favorite. There is simply too much going on for me. I love Jason Schwartzman, but I usually do. Jessie Buckley is her usual weird, awesome self. I haven't seen her in anything where she didn't shine. And Timothy Oliphant is an always welcome addition, though short-lived and underutilized here. I love Chris Rock, but this character is just full of too much BLM **** in a time where that wasn't a thing. It seems as if, yet again, the writers and directors came up with a rich character that was polluted by some producer or marketing execs woke idealism. The worst character is the teenage black girl. So annoying and smug for no apparent reason. They could have cut the cast down to about half and same with the storylines, opting to follow just Chris Rock and Jason Schwartzman's family affairs and it would have been better. Still a great show and I'm looking forward to the next, but this was disappointing in comparison to the other seasons. Expand

The season 4 misses the point of what Fargo has always been, quirky and really strange characters within a strange and captivating story. Season 4 is nothing of those things, ALSO dear creators, stop with that rubbish "This is a true story"

So I tried, and no, this type of show isn't for me. Besides the rampant sociopathic murdering, ironically it's a dull, slow paced story I couldn't sit through even if the plot was different. And I know this because I tried similar sleepers "The Old Man", "Night Sky", and "Outer Range". Jeez, aren't we all just starving for streamers these days, but damn if it's not the hardest thing to find the gems. Expand

Disclaimer I have not seen series 4 yet. However even if series 4 is bad, the first 3 stand on their own. Expand

Overall I'm keeping it an 8/10 because of how much I liked S1 and S3 and because S2 wasn't bad, but oh man did they drop the ball with S4. Too many threads and none of them ended in any satisfactory way. I hope the show recovers from this.

Season 4 of Fargo was interesting. In the point of view of racism versus power and money, the story is pretty good. The cast is great and the acting is superb, even from the younger ones. The cast is great and the acting is superb, even from the younger ones. The rhythm was something uneven. A bit hard to watch at times because the pacing was too slow. The police part of it wasn't that effective, and I would say the comedic/satirical elements of the previous seasons are almost absent this time. They put an horror piece around the last episodes, but it was sadly, underused. I give it 74%. Mainly because I loved the acting but season 4 was weaker because it took itself very seriously. Expand

Consistently great, and Chris Rock is fantastic in the new season, as are Jessie Buckley and Emyri Crutchfield. The script has that usual touch of horror-comedy going for it; the heroes are grey and the villains incredibly villainous. This is the best tv has ever been. The most creative, visually pleasing and awesome to listen to because of it's soundtrack show i have ever watched. This is better than breaking bad at it's peak, and for me that is a big deal.

For S1 S2 and S3 it would have been an undoubted 9-10 an I was happy to hear after S3, that the next season would be not rushed just to keep the show running, but done only when a Fargo worth story would be pitched. They could have waited with the season for another year or two... S4 is a tired and all too predictable reprise of an all out clusterf**k between weirdos from gangs, police, business and other bizarre characters. Despite being overstretched, it still manages to wrap a solid story and make a kind of historical point. Expand

Martin Freeman's and BBT's Season 1 is up there with the greatest TV series of all time. Season 2 is not as good, and season 3 gets worse.
