[No Spoilers.] Good start to the series... The crime-drama portion of the story is off to a more intriguing start than the romance part of the story. The small town setting, rustic characters, and powerful female lead character in the form of the town Sheriff reminds me of an old Stephen King story. (I keep looking around for Kathy Bates.) if the romantic plot line can advance in an authentic way while the crime mystery plot also advances, this show might really have something interesting going. The pilot episode definitely left me wanting more, and anticipating the next installment. Expand

I love Eyewitness. Its something new and different to watch unlike other TV shows that have a similar plots or characters. I also love that there is LGBT in the show, I'm tired of the LGBT community being shamed upon and treated like **** Its also not just LGBT stuff through the whole show if you don't like it that much, there's like a murder mystery too. This show is very rural and different. It leaves the audience mesmerized and so willing to want to know what happens next. The plot has stayed on track each and every episode and considering the progressive style of incorporating the LGBT community makes the show a thrill to see, in which the characters react and change to things. It is satisfying, and it has characters that feel as real as truth, and at the end of its scant ten episodes, its overblown, awkward beginning feels comparatively unimportant in the context of a series that tackles big issues on a small scale as juicily and successfully as this.

The intrusion of urban mayhem into the pastoral small-town setting gives Eyewitness an unsettlingly claustrophobic sense of a village under siege. You may not want to live there, but I bet you'll want to visit once a week.

The second-chance-at-love chemistry between Bellows and Nicholson and the first-chance-at-love Philip-Lukas pairing are just a couple of the things Eyewitness has to set it apart, but angles it doesn't handle well enough to make up for icky, one-dimensional villains, a humdrum crime story and a tone that defies engagement.
