    Witty, clever, LOL funny...a great comeback for a show that has always been pretty good but dragged a bit in the prior season's plot. Season 3 has funnier lines and more of them...which somehow justifies the exaggerated, over-the-top characters more so than in past years. The balance is better. Not only is this the best season yet, but ep. 5 has one of the all-time funniest TV scenes,Witty, clever, LOL funny...a great comeback for a show that has always been pretty good but dragged a bit in the prior season's plot. Season 3 has funnier lines and more of them...which somehow justifies the exaggerated, over-the-top characters more so than in past years. The balance is better. Not only is this the best season yet, but ep. 5 has one of the all-time funniest TV scenes, with Sean and Beverly at a therapist's office. In terms of sheer gasping-for-air laughter, it's up there with the best . (My all-time fave being the "Taxi" ep. at the DMV: "What does a yellow light mean: Slow down.") I literally had trouble catching my breath. It was hilarious and, BTW, didn't really have much to do with lampooning Hollywood, or being fishes-out-of-water, so maybe we'll be treated to more of that in the future. Anyway, don't miss this season. The new network programming executive in the mix (played by Chris Diamantopoulos) is the icing on the crazy cake. Another year of terrific performances by LeBlanc, Perkins, Grieg, Mangan...and all the other Brits. Well done you!… Expand

    It seemed doubtful that the show’s creators could keep those plates spinning for another round, but the third season introduces a fantastic new contrivance: a psychotic new network head, played by Chris Diamantopoulos.

    If everything about Episodes were as peppy and primed to rock as LeBlanc, the show would be a marvel. Mostly, though, it’s turned out to be a fairly tired satire of Hollywood, one that’s stayed yoked to its dubious premise.

    It’s hard not to see Episodes as a pretty good metaphor for what show-within-the-show “Pucks” is: A TV series that starts with high hopes and the promise of doing something a little different and--despite the latitude, in this case, afforded by its premium venue--winds up just settling for more of the same.
