If it were just another algo-generated run-of-the-mill army/political thriller! It's far worse! It's littered with the most laughable and tired tropes, the most ridiculous character motivations and plot lines you can think of, it's just nauseating to feel like a dumb "consumer" of this mass-produced soup. Stopped 40 minutes in.

The most cliche and predictable TV Show I've had the displeasure of watching in a long time. I thought maybe it was just the plot setup and then it'd get original after a few episodes, but no. It's all just awful.

This show is nowhere near as bad or good as other reviewers have written. It is simply a middling show that just doesn't try very hard to be good. The writing is average, the story is meh and the acting is not good enough to have it rise above average. Huisman and Evans are not bad nor good here, but I especially have not taken to the lead actress, Jessica Ann Collins. Every scene has me questioning the casting choice here, but then again, it might be less her fault than the writers. My recommendation would to be to take a flyer on this one. Expand

Engaging and insightful - not your usual action thriller because this takes its time to explore the politics surrounding a tense situation.

What this action series, from The Hurt Locker Oscar winner Mark Boal, may lack in originality it compensates for with its grim intensity. [5 - 18 Dec 2022, p.5]

It gets a lot of mileage out of that crossroads of violence and need—how far people are willing to go to better their situation is something that should never be underestimated. And it reminds one of a theme that Boal has often explored in his projects before: In combat, everyone is a hero, and no one is a hero at the same time.

We’ll give Echo 3 the benefit of the doubt because it’s taking a more thoughtful and deliberate tack than most military shows. But boy, do things go pretty slowly to start.
