Best series since series 4. Capaldi is just FANTASTIC! At least the acting was good, but the script was confusing, and the directing was not as good as other episodes. I'd give Sleep No More a 3/10, but at least they tried something new.
All other episodes were 9/10 or 10/10 for me. Incredible characterization, acting, directing, and scripts for all the series.

    Awesome! 10/10 for series 9

This series' use of two parter episodes allow characters to be more dynamic which leads to a rewarding experience. Capaldi's maturity as the Doctor is also apparent.

What a season! This has been a huge step up from series 8, with nearly every episode being an 8/10 at least.
The weakest episode was probably "Sleep No More," an attempt at a found-footage episode that was very confusing and made little sense. My favorites were the Witch's Familiar, The Girl Who Died, The Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion, and Heaven Sent. Capaldi's 12th Doctor really

My favorites were the Witch's Familiar, The Girl Who Died, The Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion, and Heaven Sent. Capaldi's 12th Doctor really came into his own this series, and is now my favorite Doctor after his astounding performances in every episode, namely the Witch's Familiar, the Girl Who Died, The Zygon Inversion, Face the Raven, Heaven Sent, and Hell Bent. I am looking forward to see what Moffat does with series 10, and I am very optimistic about Chris Chibnall taking over for series 11. I hope Capaldi stays for at least 3 more series; I would love to see how Chibnall writes his Doctor.

This is one of the more consistent seasons of Doctor Who since the new series began. The pairings of two-parters seem to work well, and they play on both the Doctor's and Clara's strengths. I am finding it slow for me to accept Capaldi. I am getting there, and liking him better but Eccleston was my first Doctor - made me love the show. I loved Tenant and Smith. Best comment I read about that disgusting episode was that it would be followed by a monster created from used kleenexes and snot. ew. So I am waiting to see how this episode will be completed next week - making this a three parter. Expand

All I can say the writing is still fabulous. The ideas are still marvelous, the acting is never boring and blended and there is always enough stuff to mindf*ck you until the episode end. All we need, forever, is some nice, pleasant faces to make everything shine and attach ourselves to everyone. Nothing bad to say, for now. Spoilers are coming...

This season has been excellent so far. Capaldi has really settled into the role and made it his own. As long as it continues to stay this strong, it may become my favorite season since Series 5.

A very consistent series. My only problems were that some episodes tried to be too funny or had a dark tone but still lots of silliness. Best episodes were the Witch's Familiar, the Girl Who Died, the Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion, and Face the Raven/Heaven Sent/Hell Bent. All of those episodes were at least a 9/10. I stopped watching Doctor Who about 3 years ago. The show just didn't peck my interest anymore. Matt Smith's run just wasn't as engaging and as interesting as the brilliant David Tennant's take on the Doctor. Yet I've always enjoyed the classic runs of Doctor Who, my Father and I would always sit down and watch them on video tapes he had recorded when he was younger. Definitely better than last season. NIce to have the 2-parters back. Some of the single episodes in the last couple of seasons felt like too much in too little time. Some great episodes in this like the Daleks one and the one in the tower. However, the overall story story arc is a let down. Again, there are aspects of this season that feel like they're trying too hard to be more dark and serious.

Great series and Clara will always be on wii the best companions. Peter is great as the doctor as well. And Heaven sent is a masterpiece of an episode.

With only a handful of good episodes and a lot of boring two-parters, Season 9 ends up being arguably the weakest season of Modern Who to date. The stories bring back a lot of classic villains but the quality of said stories left a lot more to be desired.

I've loved all of the NuWho Doctor's but I really disliked Peter Capaldi last season. Though in this season it truly all came together. Capaldi was stronger, the show had better episodes with interesting plots and solutions. It was a fun season that I would watch again. 'Me', the final few episodes made for a classic season of Doctor Who and made me see how good Capaldi is.

Capaldi is a fabulous doctor; series 8 shows that. Its the dull writing in series 9 that lacks any passion from its writers. It was as if they had decided that now that they had access to fancy settings and progressive camera quality, that that would take place of the incredible stories viewers have experienced so far. Every two part episode lacked charisma in the side characters, action from the companion (Clara, whose been on WAY too long-- she should have left after series 8 when they both lied to each other about finding their happiness), and lack of suspense throughout. It was basically Capaldi making speeches the whole series about saving lives or not saving them because he was the Doctor. The only exciting part was when they showed the flash back of Donna and the 10th doctor in episode where Maisie Williams' character first appears (and let me say, her character wasn't fantastic either, but again not her fault).
It's disappointing that there was so much predictable, sloppy conflict in series 9. I could tell by the previews for the next episode that it was going to be a boring one.
It needs more conflict, whether it be in a consistent mystery plot like the other series, or in the characters that appear as either friend or foe to the doctor, with less predictability, and less unoriginal design. We don't need the fancy HD and CGI if it lacks any excitement thereof, and need more characters that are out of place. I mean, a raven that symbolizes death? Can we get anymore cliche with this one guys!? What about the old lady you meet in a hospital who is actually sucking on brain fluids? What about the statues that not only move, but have terrifying looks, and can blip you out of existence? Where's the amusing and comical encounters with historical figures like Van Gogh and Shakespeare, even Hitler? I could blabber about this forever, but really, Doctor Who needs a timeout and a new eye on things before they continue, or series 10 is looking grim indeed. I hope the writers get their liveliness back, because really there are so many things that made the new series spectacular. New companion, more comedy that flows with Capaldi's weirdness, and more mystery that makes you wonder: What is the crack on the wall? What is Bad Wolf? And, where's a screwdriver when you need it?
