Honestly I'm not sure why this is getting any hate. It feels just like Matt Groening's other shows in terms of mood (lighthearted, and occasionally sweet), and the characters get developed pretty darn well over the course of the season. I definitely want to see where it can go from here, and I think it will become something really special (like Bojack did after the first season).

Couple episodes in and so far am having alot of fun! Definitely picking up a futurama vibe in the writing/use of the setting, on my 4k screen this looks phenomenal at times. Great voice cast and the animation is excellent. Really hope this does well as the lack of more futurama left a gap which this show nicely fills!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show is very entertaining to me as a fan of dark fantasy and rick and Morty. This show cheerfully takes fantasy tropes and corrupts them. For example the elves are happy and singy . And they stay happy and singy as they are lynching and stabbing people, which got really disturbing fast. The giant in the show (middle of the run) is not a stomping evil monster it’s a really annoyed person who’s being used for a lie. The princess is not a generic princess she’s a violent murderous alcoholic. It’s wonderful. Expand

This is the best animated show to come out since Rick and Morty and if you stick around until the end and give the show a chance for the story to build, you'll see what I mean. As a big fan of Futurama who hated to see the show come to an end, this show is everything I could have asked for. The Simpsons has grown old and tired and this show has blasted a breath of fresh air into Matt Groening's work. The expedition of the show starts slow but it sets the stage for what is an amazing series that I sense will only grow better with age. All of the loose ends left untied at the end of Part I will have you dying for Part II to come out the same way you died waiting for Season 3 of Rick and Morty. Expand

I personally really enjoyed this series. The atmosphere, the storywriting, the art-style, the characters.

They feel familiar (The style of matt groenings), but have a certain freshness to them. I enjoyed the small side-jabs and interactions between the characters, that go a bit deeper than their laid out characteristics. If you go into this as a diehard simpsons or futurama-fan

After all the negativity for Disenchantment, I'm surprised by how much I like it. There's a few poor episodes early on, but I look forward to coming back to each night. It's familiar but also new in many ways. Much like Futurama the humour is situational, rather than loud out loud funny. Very enjoyable and some of the last episodes in the this first part of the series are fantastic.

My favourite qualities of the show are found in the attention to detail that the animators put into the signs and background writing of every episode. At first glance, it seems like the show has a general cyclical structure, but this structure is undermined in later episodes in which the plot becomes more important and slightly darker. Many of the reviews below seem overly harsh and have failed to give the show a chance, as I genuinely cannot see how someone could rate this lower than a 6. Expand

This is an entertaining show with a great art style and some good humor. I'm not sure I understand the critic or user scores. It just feels like a show in the 80's. I can usually peg a show's metacritic even if I don't personally like it, but this one seems about 15-20 points too low. Watch for yourself and decide. I really liked it and will definitely watch future seasons.

But as a lifetime fan of Groening's work, who has watched his other series tumble into mediocrity, this show is awesome. The voices are great, none of the episodes made me want to hide my face in embarrassment, and most importantly, they were able to nail COMEDIC TIMING, an art that seems to be lost in so many other places. The king is Sal from Futurama, the queen is Melania Trump, and they did a pretty good job at writing a princess who does funny things without getting weird about gender. The jokes aren't a mile-a-minute but maybe that's because the show also has decent stories and plotlines that progress through the season. Also they know how to do humor with setup and delivery. I could see how people with short attention spans might not appreciate that.

Matt Groening's new animation series immediately grasped my excitement and anticipation part of my brain, like before a release of a new Game of Thrones or Rick and Morty season, not only because of the awesome voice actors (Eric Andre from the Eric Andre Show and Bender because Bender), but also because of plot that not only appeals to the nostalgia of a more simplistic time but also the magic and deceptive evil that comes along with a classic medieval tale. Reviews you see on here and other sites may come from one with EXTREMELY high expectations because of The Simpsons and Futurama's mass appeal. I will say that this is a totally different experience from those shows. I was partial to Futurama as a kid because I didn't give a crap about a dumb pizza delivery guy and his love for an alien, but Simspons caught my eye for many reasons including a stupid father (Homer) that gave me an excuse to secretly laugh at my own. Oh how I would have LOVED Disenchantment as a child and that's without getting the numerous hilarious jokes only understood by adults. I'm not too much different now I guess since I finished the first Season and am dying for more. The characters are all very lovable, even a demon somehow, and their arches really drive the story forward with my 23 yr old self along for the ride. Watch it!

I believe the show is a great new fantasy style comedy show. The show really excels when Violence has taken place. The humour is very limited but when it hits is extremely comical. I enjoyed my experience with the show. More fight scenes, violence and humour would make this show a great one.

It is certainly a shame that some of the wit and charm from the main characters is lost when compared to Groening's other works, however the amount of genuinely funny gags within the world such as the constant sign quips and repeating appearances of unique character gags show that the comedy is not completely lost.
