Deutschland '83 was a great series about the portrayal of West and East Germany, showing how the two sides distrust each other despite being Germans and the lives in the West that have been influenced by American capitalism and the East that have been influenced by Soviet communism. The mix of German and American film making made this series great. I've enjoyed several German TV shows and movies similar to Deutschland (military, war, etc.) such as Generation War and Downfall which focused mainly on the characters and their development than crazy explosions and the hero standing on top of his enemies with a cigar and sunglasses. The series is dark, especially towards the end with moments that shock you and widen your eyes.

If you like history, military, espionage and the Cold War like I do then this show is the one for you. Bonus of the show is that you can pick up a little German along the way with the help of subtitles which made me focus more on reading them, making me go back at times to re-watch the scene to understand it better but other than that, the show kept me entertained and hooked to keep watching it episode after episode.… Expand

Strong plot and good action, never get me boring while watching.
