I like how this show pushes genre boundaries. The acting from Applegate and Cardellini is a treasure to watch. I see reviews saying this show doesn't know what it is. I think it knows exactly what it is, and it's GREAT.

Excelente seriado, vale muito a pena. Assisti em uma tacada só. Você não vai se arrepender.

Very well written and acted, with 2 lead engaging characters. There are many twists and turns to the plot that manage to seem (more or less) fluid and believable. Humor pokes through on occasion. It seems like both leads (Applegate and a welcome return of Cardellini from Freaks and Geeks) appear to be having a great time playing their characters. And a welcome 30 minutes per episode!

Outstanding acting of two main characters. Lot of fun, lot of tears, delicious mix to consume it in 2 evenings. Very recommended.

Applegate and Cardellini are never really bad in anything, and they’re terrific here on their own. But when they’re together, when they provide the messy, funny, undeniably warm rapport that defines this unusual friendship, “Dead to Me” (please forgive the phrase) comes to life. The chemistry between Applegate & Cardellini is what keeps this show bubbling along, even when the jokes don't always hit the mark.

There can be comfort in the familiar, but for it to be entertaining and engaging it must be well made. Dead to Me is badly paced, tonally inconsistent and – above all – deadly dull.

Yes, the series has humor (Applegate is too nuanced to let that go), but it’s not the laughfest you expect from something labeled “sitcom.” This is more ironic.

Really, it’s Applegate’s, and she rises to that calling with the confident commitment of an old pro. This kind of role was a long time coming for Applegate. It’s a pleasure to watch her take Dead to Me’s imperfect machinery and, when the show is at its best, bend it into something sublime.
