This is a consuming story that left me bewildered at times, and then eager for more at others! Can't wait to see the next season's zany and mysterious episodes and hopeful that Zahn will continue delivering an incredible performance!

An excellent watch with a neat script, well acted and beautifully shot. It does feel rushed at times, and given the complexity of the themes and characters the show could have have had longer episodes or another episode entirely. Tis the most god awful and shameful stereotyped display of native American actors ever, and that's from the pilot no less. Terrible story all over the place, bad acting, bad story, very BAD idea yet again for a "new series", AMC---so you better run Better Call Saul for another season which is multiple powers of 10 better than "Dark Winds"… Expand

I'm especially liking this cop show. Zahn McClarnon is finally in purely good guy role, and it fits him very well. The writing is pretty excellent so far. I hope the show keeps it up. This might be my new "Longmire".

Well shot, well-edited, writing is better than Disney+ garbage level (i.e. above mediocre,) nice New Mexico scenery (this ain't shot in Arizona much if at all, though it's mostly set there. For half an ep or so I figured it would be an organically diverse show instead of Disney+ "duhversity," but then it became clear that every Native or black character is a soulful saint/soulful saint with one flaw, every white character a villain, a bigot, or a villainous bigot.

In other words: just more woke trash. Maybe Noah Emmerich will learn what a horrible white privileged bigot he is by the end. That's called a "redemption arc" in woke trash parlance.

I won't be around to see his talent wasted on trite 2022 cliché though.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Watched all but the unreleased season 1 finale so far. One episode felt slightly mushy, but wow, I'm excited for the finale! Love the setting - I wish the feel were a bit more like the movie Dark Wind, which felt more brooding, observant, and intense, with less action. But it's a lot of fun in a setting not commonly seen. Lots of negative reviews riff on this idea the entire season is just "woke reversed racism" - but unless the finale shows us something different, Navajo characters include the show's most ruthless killers, some of whom border on the embodiment of pure evil. The main hero shoots his brother in law in the leg (permanently maiming him) after his brother tries to kill him with an axe, all because they can't deal with their emotions of losing a son/nephew. This same hero and his wife are so habituated into dinner arguments that he falls into the same old routine even when a guest comes over for dinner. Meanwhile a white dude is a philandering used car salesman who is extorted by Navajos into money laundering. Another is a helicopter pilot who is shot in the head by a Navajo. Another is an FBI special agent who appears to be dirty (but we aren't sure) and has to navigate dealing with local police that literally tells him crime happening amongst white people are white people problems, suggesting the Navajo police won't dedicate any resources to assisting in law enforcement. And then there is a lab tech who is ordered to destroy case files but refuses to and alerts the only other agent he knows who is involved with the file and tips him off that something may be wrong. Oh, and yet another white guy who keeps telling his Navajo compatriots that they have gone too far and the entire situation has gotten completely out of hand, after multiple murders and a kidnapped family. I suspect people who view this show as "woke" will struggle with most shows that portray white people in less than favorable light when the main characters are not white, and the show setting also reveals some uncomfortable facts about race relations in America - like the forced sterilization of Native American women (which is brought up at least twice in the show)(between the 60s and 70s, Time magazine estimates about a quarter of all Native American women of child bearing age were sterilized in the US) or the systematic integration campaign with Native American Residential Schools. I'll be curious to see if they touch on the Mormon church's "Lamanite Placement Program" operated by the Mormon church from the 50s to the 90s, which involved around 50,000 children according to Wikipedia - they do have a Mormon family in a pit, and some unresolved questions about one of the main character's childhood.… Expand

Dark Winds is in a perfect spot with AMC, which continues to show content that people once went to the movies to see. I think Actor Zahn McClarnon is one actor who always knows how to play it cool but wise. I think Actor Zahn McClarnon is one actor who always knows how to play it cool but wise. McClarnon and the rest of the ensemble are a great match-up. The showrunners (so far) are doing a great job getting me to connect with the characters through their stories. It feels like it's going to be a great series, and my curiosity is piqued, I honestly can't wait to see what happens next.

Season one was decent. Season two crashed and burned. My primary issue is the pacing. Common activities they often choose include driving, preparing food and brushing teeth. I do not watch shows/movies to watch characters engage in mundane activities I do every day. It’s just filler material because they do not much story and need something to make up the run time. This became even more obvious when they started dragging out scenes. They ran out of story and had to come up with some way to fill up the run time. Boring. I, and I guess most people, have limited entertainment time and I will not waste it on boring. Another show with some potential went down the drain. People consume entertainment to be… surprise, entertained. Not bored, definitely not preached at, and not bullied. Modern “entertainment” is broken, fubar, and clearly has forgotten they are in customer service. Viewers are your customers; service them fool.… Expand
