Take away the costume and production design along with Keough and Claflin's performances and this show will be left with not much substance after all; in other words, Daisy Jones and The Six lacks an intriguing storyline as well as a smart direction. (Am I the only one here to think that the plot was a bit overstretched? Would have been way better in a five-episode set)

I expected to dislike this but was pleasantly surprised. The songs are strong, the music is quite good and the performances from the fictional Six very believable. The cast is strong and likable especially Camila Morrone and the two leads, Keough and Claflin. I even bought the fake album from the fake band. LOL I only wish that The Dunne Brothers songs were included. I would stronglyI expected to dislike this but was pleasantly surprised. The show looks and sounds polished, beautifully capturing the earth-toned aesthetics of the era and producing an impressive album of earworms. But it’s a sun-kissed misfire that reduces what could have been a fascinating look at the profundity of artistic connection to a shallow soap opera.

It’s a good series, well-acted, competently scripted. But it just doesn’t quite rock.

Daisy Jones & The Six is so tepid and deliberately inoffensive it almost becomes the opposite. To even dimly invoke the legacy of Fleetwood Mac in service of something so wan and lifeless—stuck in a no man’s land between melodrama soap and wistful epic drama—is almost a vulgarity. Though, that’s probably too strong a word to describe a series that is, essentially, the TV equivalent of muzak.
