NBC comedy has been a wasteland for the past few years. With the exception of "Superstore," nothing has worked. "Crowded" follows that pattern. It's about empty nesters whose kids move back in. Hilarity ensues... except it doesn't. The show isn't clever or funny. It's boring and pathetic. Luckily, given the numbers, it shouldn't be on the air too long.

If you like Patrick Warburton, it's hard to give the show a thumbs down, at least it's hard for me.
I think the low ratings are too harsh. People are being too hard on this show and worse shows have gotten better ratings.
But it's true, there is some funny stuff in there, but on the whole, I can't call it a good show. The characters themselves are ok, except for the two daughters. They

The characters themselves are ok, except for the two daughters. They were created after stereotypes and plotlines with them at their center tend to be lazy.

A little improvement in writing would help the show to get a thumbs up, but I somehow doubt that will happen.
We know the actors, and we know they have talent, but that is largely wasted.
But I will keep my hopes up, you never know.

The amount of canned laughter was totally over the top....make a statement (har har har!) come on drop that rubbish and actually make the show funny..

I loved Patrick Wharburton in Rules of Engagement who had much better actors to play off him, but he is always the same character - even in this show...which is ok, but the rest of the cast does not look like they gel together. I've tried to watch it a few times since it debuted but I find it boring. I just leave it on so I won't miss Dateline. Story lines that are predictable and a laugh track that reminds me of the 70s and 80s sitcoms. Carrie Preston is not a good match for Wharburton, as they don't look like they would be together. And I find it difficult to think of her as this psychotherapist when I still see her as Arlene from True Blood. The daughters characters are self absorbed and seem to have no direction at all, while the Stacey Keach as the grandfather is cool, its not enough to carry the show. The writing is lack luster as mentioned with predictable story lines, 1 dimensional characters and no thought as to how these actors would blend as a family and pull it off. NOT! Expand

It was a good concept for a show, but felt like it tried too hard, the laugh track was extremely annoying, also, Sunday night for a comedy was a really bad idea, and to pin it against the walking dead was just asking for a cancellation, NBC never gave it a shot anyway

The fast short jokes from that guy, reminding off the tv show Til Death whit Brad Garrett.

Very similliar to How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life.

    Easy going comedy, easy laughs.

Instead of poking fun of modern families with millennials who return home and the awkwardness that can create, viewers are treated to over involved parents who placate their kids and exacerbate their own problems. This is not only frustrating to watch but completely unfunny.

The comedy comes off as a less funny “Modern Family,” with the daughters uncannily similar (one’s dim and fashionable; the other is smart and geeky) to the “MF” girls.

It's a new show that feels very much like an old show. Like shows we've seen umpteen times before.
