My favorite crime investigation series. It won me over with its strong cast of characters, interesting criminal cases, a lot of good humor and not shying away from displaying difficult moral dilemma. Lets start with the characters: JillMy favorite crime investigation series. It won me over with its strong cast of characters, interesting criminal cases, a lot of good humor and not shying away from displaying difficult moral dilemma. Lets start with the characters: Jill Hennessy plays Dr. Jordan Cavanaugh. She is the main character and an excellent forensic pathologist. She has a bit of a temper that brings her often into problems (Crossing Jordan has two meanings here: Perish or crossing / confronting Jordan). She is like Dr. House if he were (far) less anti-social, less awkward, and much nicer (and female of cause). This is not a fully acurate description but the best example I can think off. Her character and development is a strength of the series. Then there is her boss Dr. Garret Macy who has to deal with the whole cast and is like a good friend (sometimes father) for the whole team. There is Ravi Kapoor nicknamed Bug (He is an etymologist whose full Indian name I cant spell). He is shy, brilliant and has some good arcs. Steve Valentine as Dr. Nigel Townsend is a British criminologist and a tiny bit of nonconformist or special. With Jerry O’Connell as “Woody” Hoyt we got a detective that frequently works with the team. I think he is a great actor. There is also a strong supporting cast that I will not name here as it would get to long. The whole cast is great and entertaining. I was invested into their stories and character arcs. I think it has the best of some sitcom aspects (I say some because sitcom is for many nothing positive). The dynamic and chemistry is always great and I am amazed how it never got boring for me. The other strength are the interesting cases. Sometimes serious, sometimes funny and always entertaining. I like puzzling the clues together with the cast. There are many interesting cases and clever ideas used in this show. Remark: As someone who works in a laboratory I must remark that it is not scientifically correct but leagues better than CSI. You cant analyze a sample in a few minutes for thousands of chemicals or do all the stuff shown in the show. However the general approach is not that bad. Sometimes they deal with serious dilemmas for examples like medical assisted suicide and don't shy away from showing both sides as there is no real easy answer. This was remarkable and they do it sometimes with other stuff too. Overall this is better than the CSI series as it is a fine mixture of crime show garnered with lovable character, humor and clever writing. Expand
