From his lengthy opening monologue through his emotional final scene, Harington is the addition to this season’s cast that’s giving a performance that seems more suited to the rhythms of the stage. The remaining three find better ways in Season 2 to take full advantage of the subtleties that Jim Field Smith’s direction can afford.

It is the kind of show that makes policing look stupidly easy – suspects buckling and confessing to the crime in the space of 45 minutes. The acting, though, makes the episodes worth watching.

Although it has its moments of silliness (I couldn’t hear the line, “Word’s got out, daddy’s a twisted man” without saying it again in the voice of a 1960s pirate radio DJ), Criminal continues to provide a pleasingly fresh take on the police drama.

A continuation of what worked in season 1 and thats a good thing. One of the better police procedural shows out there.

Great acting, good script and very entertaining. No CG, no hooplas and extra colors...just good acting. I forgot I was watching TV, it felt so real.
