May 14, 2017There is a sense of realness that is so delightful. The way the struggle is presented is in the most subtle way. Great show to let you wind down, definitely advertises new york comedy clubs!

Apr 22, 2017This show has a lot of heart. It doesn't make stand-up look easy. So it's charming to see Pete try to make a professional climb. The other characters add a lot of spice to the mix. Artie Lange in particular really sets a fun atmosphere to the show. I'd recommend it.

Apr 29, 2017The show has it's charms and is entertaining, but it lacks energy.
Pete comes across as a sympathetic looser and his journey is interesting and funny enough, but the performances of the other comedians trying to act are hit and miss.
I'll keep on watching for now, but I'm not sure whether it will keep me interested... -
Mar 2, 2017I enjoy Pete Holmes' stand-up, so it's odd to see him out of place in Crashing, where he plays an unsuccessful comedian. It's as if he is dumbing his own routine down to make others look better, no doubt an effect of Judd Apatow's influence. Unfortunately, plot is devoid of any real complexity and the characters lack enthusiastic charisma.

Mar 14, 2017I love Petey, and i love watching a fictionalized version of his early days pursuing his dream. i can't wait to watch him catch his first big break, or watch him gradually inch his way to success.

Mar 7, 2019Crashing is unique in that it follows a real life comedian acting as an up-and-coming comedian in New York. With guest spots from several other famous comedians, the humor is almost always on point, even if the story occasionally hits a bit of a snag.

As raw and raunchy as the comedy sometimes gets on Crashing, there's something incredibly endearing and downright sweet about this new HBO series. That something is the performance of the immensely likable Pete Holmes.
-
Pete has yet to figure out that the art of winning an audience is perfected through enthusiastically failing again and again. Crashing shows that Holmes has already mastered that lesson and has moved on to quietly, honestly killing it.

There is a lot of talk--practical and philosophical--about comedy, and Crashing is very good with the details of low-level nightlife. But what most makes the show entertaining are Pete’s episodic adventures with characters who will help form him, challenge him and wake him from his self-satisfied sleep into a better sort of happiness.
