    First three series are brilliant, then the fourth series drops in quality by so much, down to mediocre comedy. Still watchable, but not of the same calibre at all. For some reason when Jeff (Richard Coyle) left they decided to get the cliched sci-fi nerd character, and he ever had a catchphrase (I can't even remember it, I just remember hating the fact it was there). But if you ignore theFirst three series are brilliant, then the fourth series drops in quality by so much, down to mediocre comedy. Still watchable, but not of the same calibre at all. But if you ignore the last season I think this is the funniest comedy series I have ever seen, with it's only rival for that being Fawlty Towers.     Coupling takes something that has been done to death in pop culture, SEX, and takes a fresh and funny look at the subject matter. It is hilarious and vulgar and represents everything I love about the Brits. Richard Coyle played the Jeff Murdock character to perfection and it is a crying shame he quit the show after season 3. But the rest of the characters was able to pick the slack and season 4 still had its funny moments, although Richard Mylan's Oliver the Sci-Fi store owner was annoying on the nerves at times and wasn't funny at all. He had a couple of good scenes with Gina Bellman's Jane but, aside from that, his humor seemed forced and contrived. Also Ben Miles' character Patrick Maitland was kinda the weakest link in the entire series. He was the well endowed playboy and "himbo" as Miles calls his character but he was never truly memorable in the series, except for drinking Guinness and sleeping with a lot of women. But the act got old quickly. It was the strength of Kate Isitt's acting as Sally Harper which brought out anything special in Patrick. Check out this brilliant but short lived series.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Think Friends, only they meet in a pub instead of a cafe; there's way more sex and nothing but crude humor. Coupling is a brilliantly fantastic, clever comedy that benefits from quality writing and some great chemistry between its main actors. Season 1 of Coupling is hilarious and is certainly smarter than most of the shows in America. I loved the monologue in E04 where Steve intellectualizes a man's love of women and pornography. Brilliant stuff.… Expand
