CHLOE proves that the novel is the best medium for this kind of material. The series has fine chambermusic, good actors, the sea by night, lush settings from mansions to an art gallery, very spooky oil paintings and a great mother with dementia. But it lacks depth and originality. Objectively, Becky is not worse than any other obsessive and guilt- ridden protagonist. Saw it on BBC a while ago. It's just great. The acting is fine at worst and highly impressive at best. If you're at all into thrillers and detective stuff you should watch it. It works both as a mystery, and also as an intrapersonal emotional drama that I suspect will resonate with many people.

Erin Doherty carries this series, a great intense, demanding performance from start to finish. The mystery is interesting, and its got a little Veronica Mars vibe happening which is right up my alley. The suspense is cranked incredibly high at certain points as Becky's web of lies starts to unravel. Really strong little series.

A dull and slow psychological drama, that is filled with annoying plot holes, and some ordinary acting (Erin Doherty aside).

Aside from the acting, I found this to be predictable, slow & quite boring.

“Chloe,” is thoroughly enjoyable, especially as the plot becomes more complicated and Becky’s motives grow more ambiguous.

This is not a tale of brute force determination. There’s a delicacy and a slipperiness here that feels organic to the story of a person trying to assert some control in an otherwise volatile life. ... Against a wave of similar shows that luxuriate in the lies, each incremental step away from the truth in “Chloe” carries a real, sobering weight with it.

Because of key performances from Doherty, Hall and Bennett-Warner, Chloe goes from a predictable stalking tale to an entertaining thriller that may take some unexpected turns.
