Sep 9, 2017Similar show to 'You're the Worst' except that the characters are likable including the quirky supporting cast. Rob who is an American fish out of water is a perfect foil to the the normal sardonic British humour style. Well written and acted by the two leads, no phone in performances here. Very funny with a hint of sadness.

Sep 12, 2017The first season of this show is kind of fun, though Sharon isn't really attractive so it kind of stretches the premise and makes it tougher to watch, at least for guys. The show's magic is its observational humor and it takes a major left turn when the couple marry. If you're in a similar state of relationship you may be amazed at the parallels.

Sep 28, 2015"Charming" is the best description for this show. The premise isn't original, but the strength of the show lies in its two leads, who have great chemistry and are very likeable characters, that it's easy to root for. It feels like a fresh take of an old premise.
My only complain is that Sharon's character comes across as neurotic and crazy, while Rob doesn't seem to have any obvious flaws. -
Jun 23, 2015A romantic comedy film premise in a TV show. You'd think it would be horrible, but its surprisingly very fun and light hearted. The show is realistic enough to be interesting with the characters quirky enough to be engaging.

Jul 17, 2015A familiar premise made new and engaging by this hilarious duo. They're great together and Sharon Horgan particularly shines. It's smart, nuanced, just serious enough, and damn funny.

Aug 18, 2015A promising premise, but I just can't get into it. Doesn't help that the two leads leave me cold, with the female lead being an especially large boat anchor, IMHO.

May 20, 2018Perfection. Funny, sad, relatable, ridiculous. Can’t wait for it to come back.

Dec 9, 2017I identify with the show in very many ways. I know why people would be critical of it and it's the same reason they would be critical of me. I think that's what the show is all about. Just smart people living their lives.

Feb 12, 2019Smart and real. Some of the funniest moments I had in TV this year. The end of the last episode was a bit of a let-down though.
Finally a good comedy of 20 minutes I can watch with my wife! -

Dec 22, 2021instantly gripping. a phenomenal comedy that doesn't beat around the bush engaging you with its whirlwind romance at a breakneck pace hat the characters themselves seem to barely adjust too. its such a treat to stumble upon a really great gem like this that so readily sticks itself amongst your favorites.

Jan 23, 2021What makes Catastrophe work is how relatable Rob & Sharon are, and how they can turn both the mundane and serious into hilarious jokes.

Each episode intensifies, emotionally, suggesting the long arc of a story that’s just beginning.

There's nothing revolutionary here, but man, what is here is some of the funniest, most soulful TV of the summer.

Along the course of these six episodes, the show touches on various rom-com tropes about disapproving parents (Carrie Fisher is, as always, a treat as Rob's cynical mother), secret meetings with exes, bachelor and bachelorette parties that spin out of control, etc. But they're all dealt with in such a specific and simple way that they feel unique to these characters and their world, rather than the obligatory stumbles on the path to a happy ending.
