Of course Patricia Heaton is sickening sweet but that kinda makes it worse... The script just sucks. Too bad because I like Frankie Heck... -

Oct 14, 2019I would agree with other reviewers that the show does feel forced at times, as though they are pandering to please everybody. That being said, I think this show could be something good, it has the potential to be very funny.

Dec 15, 2019Might be a generic medical comedy in the vein of Scrubs, but Patricia Heaton is intolerable. I can't imagine why they ever cast her as Ray Romano's wife. She's unlikable.

Oct 31, 2019Slightly amusing. The lead character has the only engaging personality. The rest of the characters are one dimensional and WEAK!
This could have been something if the writing, direction, and acting were better across the board.
This feels like it should have been a failed pilot that needed a total rewrite, recasting, and a better creative team before it was picked up.

Carol's Second Act could use more punchlines and less impassioned wisdom.

The joke-telling isn't particularly sharp — a lot of punchlines revolve around slapstick mischief and the rookies' fear of killing their patients — but Heaton's veteran comic timing and Jalees' sardonic delivery keep the energy afloat. Carol comes across as the dorky mom who sends you "chin-up!" memes on Facebook: groan-inducing, but sweet. ... There's potential here, but first Carol needs to stop tripping over her own compassion.
