veeb.May 18, 2007well done dysfunctional family drama. nice cast.

KenHSep 26, 2006The first show had a lot of exposition, which is necessary with a big cast/multi-storied undertaking. I'm very hopeful that the seasoned professionals on this show will make this appointment viewing.

EdSSep 26, 2006Incredible that such a great cast should produce something so only lifelike. BO-ring.

bettehJan 8, 2007predictable formula.

kathyPOct 30, 2006at first, i would have given it a 8+ but now they get a 3!! ...enough with the homosexual agenda... while i was hooked, in the begining, i now have one foot out the door... 2 weeks of full on passionate gay kissing... can we just get on with the story???

BillyTSep 24, 2006I love sally Field and Tom Skerrit. It would make the show better if we saw more of them.

BarbaraCSep 25, 2006Pity, as the show has a great cast but way too many. And it's like a been there and done that. I would like to see it make it but I doubt it.

ChristaCSep 25, 2006I expected good things for this show. It started off pretty good, but it definitely lost something as it went along. I think they tried to pack too much into the 1st episode. And why did they kill off the father? Not like we had a chance to feel anything for him yet. Personally I just didn't feel for the characters at all.

TTylerJan 11, 2007Ridiculous contrived setup with a lousy cast.

-
RtylerJan 22, 2007After the last 2 weeks of the gay thing, I've finished with this show. To see those two kissing mad me sick and my son-in-law had to leave the room because he was so repulsed. As far as I'm concerned, the show is ruined. We won't be watching anymore.

AlexB.Jun 29, 2007I despise this show. about a bunch of whiny rich people that clearly are responsible for their own problems & have no sense of humor about themselves. The gay lawyer brother is an especially nasty character, There is no fun or wit in this show. It is tedious and pretentious.

SharonT.Sep 30, 2007I stopped watching--too much male kissing.

-
LoriMDec 29, 2006Very good and sometimes excellent cast given mediocre and sometimes terrible writing. Perhaps Ms. Flockhart would be more convincing as a conservative if someone with a clue about the right were writing for her. You can't have both political views expressed when every writer around the table is a liberal. This talented cast is speaking down to us.

RockySSep 24, 2006This family reunion is as boring as any family reunion where you don't know anyone.

VerlEFeb 12, 2007Great show but gave a zero because of all the Gay "Crap". More and more each week. I am going to stop watching this show!!!
-
-
JeffWFeb 21, 2007Enough is enough with this gay stuff being shown so much. OK we all know it's there but do we have to expose of young children to it too! I will stop watching because the gay part is more and more each week and is making a good show unbearable to watch.

MaryWDec 16, 2007Robotic, trite. Good lord, it's as wooden as a high school play.

Dec 17, 2016I've watched this series back and forth many times. So much drama without being a soap. There are also many hilarious moments.
Good characters, storyline. One of the best TV shows I have ever watched in my life. Too bad there are so few many TV shows that come close to B&S (Parenthood is fine, but doesn't hit the mark like B&S does.)
The first few seasons are better than the later ones. -
JOeH.Jun 30, 2007I cannot believe all the homophobic comments! I mean, the gay thing makes me want to watch it more! Especially the kissing!

IridaS.Jun 8, 2007It a amazing show,I like it very much and I'm happy that it's being transmitted also in Italy.I hope they can renew it for a lot of seasons.

WallaceGOct 9, 2006I think this is a great show. It really draws out emotions that Im sure most of our society deals with on a daily basis. Its nice to finally have a show that people can truly relate on a real level. And for Valerie C...the song that ended the eposide on 10-1-06 was "Heart of the Matter" by India Arie
-
-
JulieBOct 8, 2007Started out great, has evolved into constant shouting matches and predictable plots.

-
MelodyApr 2, 2007The homophobic comments by various other writers on this site are appalling. Terrific adult show with complex characters and relationships.

-
MikeTMar 2, 2008Predictable and aweful. One retarded cathartic moment after another. The jokes are flat and the acting sucks.
-
-
AndyOct 10, 2006Valerie, the song last Sunday was "The Heart of the Matter" by india.arie. It is a cover of a Don Henley song.

humbertovOct 1, 2006Great TV show!, I wonder why is it aired on ABC and not in HBO...

LynnJDec 1, 2006This show is right up there with my few top favorite shows. I appreciate the respect that is given to each characters points of view.

-
cheryldOct 2, 2006I really enjoyed the first show., but the second one was great and very unexpected. I think people will eventually pick up on the exciting drama. it was a good replacement for grey.s anatomy (in which i am a big fan of.

Awards & Rankings
-
On the glossy surface, it’s an earnestly predictable but impeccably produced soap opera. [13 Sep 2006]
-
The pilot was reshot, and it shows--the timing lurches and scenes grind into each other. [22 Sep 2006, p.90]
-
The show seems as if it desperately yearns to be a worthy companion to "Housewives" but lacks the requisite bite, despite political references meant to feel edgy that prove mostly banal.
