Definitely a good show but not a top tier comedy. Pros: no laugh track, great performances, and great opportunities for physical comedy. Cons: cartoonish characters, the main character has only one note, and recurring jokes that go on tooDefinitely a good show but not a top tier comedy. The cartoonish characters are a double edged sword. While they are played brilliantly, they also get old fast. The main character played by Adam Samberg is eternally manic and brimming with forced optimism. Several seasons in, the schtick wears thin. This is true for all the characters except Captain Holt, a straight man on another level. The show has a lot of The Office in it, as seen in many of the guest stars. The Office was such a wonder because the characters were so relatable. You might see Micheal embarrass himself and remember that time you said something dumb in an interview or on a first date. You won’t see anything relatable in the Nine-Nine. Many of the storylines are detective fantasies where everything easily falls into place for the Nine-Nine. It’s feel good but never interesting.

All-in-all, the Nine-Nine is an ok watch when you burn out on better comedies.… Expand

Wife and I just started watching Season 8. We made it about halfway through the episode and turned it off. We LOVED this show through Season 7. Season 8 is chalked full of bs political propaganda so we're out. Only reason I'm rating it a 5Wife and I just started watching Season 8. The first 4 seasons are great and season 5 is ok but in season 6 the show wastes no time in showing how it is anti-conservative and anti-trump. Within the first 2 episodes it takes every chance it gets to take a shot at the GOP. To fans of the show its no secret that it has turned into a propaganda mouthpiece over the last few seasons. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them sucking up to the people that canceled them and thereby cost them their jobs.

If you ever wondered what the prequel of Idiocracy would look like - this could be Brooklyn 9-9. Except it isn't funny at all. And it's set in our "culture". Another show suitable for audience that hasn't reach puberty yet.

The first five seasons are quite good - season 6 is a mixed bag, and then 7 and 8 are total write-offs. Isn't much different to say about this than previous seasons. B99 remains a very funny show with a strong, distinctive and likable cast.

I do have two small complaints. This season's antagonist is pretty weak. He feels like a poor man's version of Wunch from earlier seasons. There's one episode that's basically a copy of a Wunch episode. It doesn't help that the new villain has this gimmick of always sounding happy even when he's threatening. It could work in theory, but the actor isn't able to pull it off.

The finale is yet another cliffhanger that tries too hard to create drama, which we all know is going to last only a handful of episodes.

Overall, I'm still loving this show.… Expand

It's almost a laugh track style sitcom but without the laugh track and pauses. Characters are too one-dimensional, the same quirks every episode. That said, it has some good moments, sometimes bringing up serious topics, sometimes more interesting multi-episode stories. The settings also all are or appear real, not like old school sitcoms where it's obviously a stage setup. Also, I'm not a fan of police shows, especially these days but it's not really about making the police look great and sometimes they fit in criticism of police issues in the US.… Expand

A great cop/comedy show which keeps you wondering what's happening next. Fantastic performance by Andy Samberg makes you believe him both as a cop and as a guy who stopped growing up when he was 15. It's a must-watch if you enjoy a good comedy.

What a memorable series! Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a great example of a series that manages to develop characters in a natural and almost imperceptible way. Also, a series that produces laughs no matter what.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has to be one of the greatest tv shows ever, it has perfect writing, great acting and comedy and so much more. Some of the episodes were just amazing the story writing and twisted especially in s 5 were just amazing. The halloween heist is one of the best things in tv history However my only con would be that after the NBC takeover from seasons 6-8 the show quality declined a lot, it was not as great as the earlier seasons and felt rushed in some spaces. All round a good show.

Comedy and Drama fit well with the memorable characters. The story is easy to follow and you can easily get hooked on some parts of the show. The comedy doesn't feel forced and can be genuinely funny at many timesAll round a good show.
