What a fantastic start, this season is pretty much everything you'd expect from this show, the origin story of Walter White and his slow descent into madness, so far the pacing is very consistent and the characters are great, but the best is yet to come.

    Final Thoughts:

Breaking Bad’s first season is a brutal and emotionally intensive journey. Its characters shine with deeply personal and award-worthy acted stories. It builds strong foundations for future seasons, with rich character development and high stakes. Its slow pace and abrupt ending make it feel incomplete, but it’s a binge-worthy crime drama I am hungry to continue

More comedic, a lot of high tension drama. Honestly a very humble beginning to what eventually becomes a pitch black drama.

A great start to a show that would go on to be one of the best TV shows ever created. Going into Breaking Bad, I was expecting it to be heavily overrated, however, it was not. The show completely surpassed by expectations and has become one of my favourite shows.

I actually watched Better Call Saul first, and fell in love with that show, the story, the characters, and the acting, so I figured I'd give Breaking Bad a try and wow, was I disappointed. The characters are horrible, unbelievable, and thoroughly unlikable, the plot makes zero sense as it meanders around in some half-assed attempt to tell a story, and you are left constantly wondering why you are even watching it to begin with as you are bored to tears. Even Walt, who has cancer, is nearly impossible to sympathize with, and Jesse plays the most unconvincing drug addict/dealer of any show I have ever watched. It is like watching something written by a person that has never even been in the same room with a drug, let alone ever done one themselves. I literally can't even finish the third season because every time I try it feels like pulling teeth, and I feel like I would literally watch just about any other show than this one. The first season actually showed some promise but with each episode the show just gets worse and worse and worse. I honestly don't think I will even be finishing the show because it doesn't even make me want to know what happens because of how completely awful the writing and storytelling is. I literally cannot believe that so many people like this show when most shows I have watched in my life are much better than this. If you have never tried watching this show by now my advice is don't even try. It is not worth your time. Even a Nic Cage movie is more entertaining and has better writing, and that is really saying something. Honestly, the only bright spot in an otherwise terrible show was the character Saul Goodman and the acting of Bob Odenkirk. I personally cannot wait for the last season of Better Call Saul, but I feel like the show is permanently stained due to the fact it was inspired by such a horrible and uninteresting show as Breaking Bad. I literally made this account solely to review this show because it was so horrible that I was compelled to let other people know so they could avoid the horrible experience of having to watch it. One of the all-time worst shows ever produced. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. looking for a timeless show? something extraordinary ? .. there you have it BREAKING BAD... thanks to Vince Gilligan for putting his efforts and giving us an absolute tv show.
the show unveils the story of a struggling chemistry teacher * who is an absolute genius in chemistry* and is diagnosed with terminal lungs cancer ... no money for such expense treatment and no insurance ... the guilt was killing Walt(the chemistry teacher) that he is going to pass soon leaving his family in debt... but later in week in Walt's brother-in-law (hank,DEA) busted a meth lab and caught around 700k dollar and being desperate Walt thought he can do a better job there the story hits and he finds his ex students(Jessie) involved in the making of that meth and Walt made deal with as partners as Walt being a cook and Jessie being the supplier.
the above were the intro into the series ... this show will keep u on edge for all the season and the most ammazing part about this show is every next season is more dark and you would not go like no that season was a bit dull .. not in case of breaking bad .. there can be few episode where u will go like naayy thats slow but no trust me those are filler they are too relevant the coming episodes.
each season will show the progress of Walt from a having a dull struggling life to a mass cook of crystal meth and finally in the end season the decline Walter white to the great "Heisenberg"
my most fav. this about the way the episode were directed was .. when they revisited the prior episode in start and that was too deep and show that how the prior acts have consequences

Vince Gilligan's groundbreaking television series begins with a bang, but there is a sense of something missing throughout this first season. At times, the show seems unsure of where it truly wants to go, and even feels forced - for instance, the exploding car at the gas station. However, any flaws present here are largely overshadowed by phenomenal acting on the part of Bryan Cranston.

Instead of the usual garbage on television, this is something different. Walter does an amazing job of juggling the many relationships he has, cooking meth and his battle with cancer. Supporting characters like Jesse, Tuco, Saul, Skyler, Flynn, the in-laws do an amazing job and each play a vital part in the show offering something new instead of just being extras. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the best shows in recent memory, Breaking Bad follows Walter White's struggle to provide for his family after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. However, he makes a decision that many of us would find very stupid: he decides to cook meth to pay for his treatment.

The best parts of this show are its villains, unforgettable "heroes, the action, and the thought-provoking narrative. Many people have pointed out how illogical some of the characters' decisions are; but let me ask you: If you were a drug overlord who is slowly descending into insanity, how logical would you be?

However, some of the characters felt a little annoying at times (none of the main ones, for the most part); and some episodes tended to drag. But in the end, Breaking Bad has all the ingredients of a great television show, mixed almost to perfection. And while not without its flaws - like any other TV show - it provides plenty of thrills, chills, and tears that will stay with you for a long time.

There are very, very few shows where every series is consistently excellent (the only other I can think of is Fawlty Towers in its short 2 series run). Each series builds on the last, showing the morality compass of our protagonist gradually mutate from fairly understandable but illegal decisions (underpaid chemistry teacher with 2 jobs decides to help a failed student make meth as a one off to help pay bills for a new child) to entirely evil (literally becoming a drug baron in the midst of drug laws).

You actually catch yourself sympathising with acts we would decry and be in disgust of because of how brilliantly the characters are introduced to us.

Horrible, **** show where the characters are very unlikeable, there are major plotholes, some major characters are so annoying that you really want to see them dead. And the protagonist - I can't sympathize with him just because he's about to die he's going to wreck other people's lives.

Hands down one of the best TV series ever made, and one of the very few to deserve a 10.

The tension, drama, and acting are really what makes this show so special. Though I can tell you after having re-watched the whole series recently, another great point is what you'll get out of watching it again and seeing what you missed the first time around.

Not only is the first season a game changer in terms of dramas but is an essential viewing for anyone who likes good entertainment. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The original run of Breaking Bad came to an end toward the end of 2013 as a show that, over its time, had gradually built a bigger and bigger audience as everyone jumped on the bandwagon of what was, arguably, one of the finest television shows produced in years.

The season 5 finale drew an incredible 10 million viewers and almost universal praise. I was one of those people who, not so much jumped on the bandwagon for the first time, but jumped back on after losing interest following season 3.

Before you sharpen your pitchforks and get a good, old-fashioned lynch-mob together, my losing interest in Breaking Bad was more due to my terrible attention span than anything else. I was a bit confused by season 5, namely because it followed probably one of what I now know to have been one of its most eventful seasons in season 4 which culminated in the demise of Gustavo Fring.

I jumped back into Breaking Bad recently, having been bored one night following a routine porn viewing, I binged on a few episodes as Netflix subscribers are wont to do, and then I got hooked once more. What went from just the first three episodes of season 1, turned into another nightly routine of a few Breaking Bad episodes before bed until I run out of episodes to enjoy; that day being today.

For those unacquainted with what is, justifiably, often referred to as a televisual masterpiece, Breaking Bad focuses on its main protagonist/antagonist, Walter White. A high school science teacher who is diagnosed with late stage cancer stumbles into the world of cooking crystal meth after witnessing one of his old students, Jesse Pinkman, escape from his own meth lab after being raided by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Walter, by the way, witnessed this while on a ride along with his brother-in-law, Hank, an officer within that very agency.

Walt sees an opportunity, an opportunity to make sure that his family is set for life, making them financially secure, as well as paying all the medical bills that come with chemotherapy. What starts as a small-but risky-venture to protect his family's future when he anticipates he will be long dead, turns into an obsession, a thrill-ride as Walt goes from a small time meth cook, to the King of the Mountain.

Played by the brilliant, Bryan Cranston, the character of Walter White is, as he should be in a show like this, the most compelling character ever seen on a television screen. The show itself turns into a philosophical study of the ego, revolving around Walt, it shows him going from the wimpy good-guy (pretty much Hal from Malcolm in the Middle), to the ultimate bad guy, a monster only concerned with himself, his own status within the meth business as the legendary Heisenberg.

As Walt moves up the food chain in this world, he pushes his own family away while embracing the new family he has created for himself, Jesse Pinkman as the son he seems to have always wanted, and his extended family, the loyal servants and dealers who will do his every bidding at the flash of a few thousand dollars. Walt throughout the show struggles with the consequences - big and small - of his actions until, ultimately, the consequences don't seem to matter at all to Walt. He is the very definition of someone being too big for their boots, while he ascends to the top of the ladder, he never truly becomes the leader of the pack he ends up wanting to be.

He will always be just a mere imitation of those who do the drug business so much better than he, and that is what largely compels Walt's actions throughout the show, the drive to be better, the bitterness building within at the knowledge he will never reach that point. It's that fascinating understanding of what drives Walt throughout the show that makes Breaking Bad such a compelling watch. Sure, there are parts of it which are slow, or maybe slightly absurd, even for a show such as this, but it all works because of its central character, because they're cogs in the well-oiled machine that drives Walt's story forward.

If you've not seen the show before, this is something that I strongly recommend. If you have seen it before, then, hopefully, you will understand exactly why it's so universally loved.

While violent, the series is not formulaic. I do feel there were gratuitous scenes of Bryan Cranston in underwear and showing his naked backside. Somehow it was easy to get hooked to this gritty, dark plot. Some of the sub-plots were overboard in the realism of drugs and was depressing.

The boring chemistry teacher discovering his hidden personality. The scenic back drop of New Mexico. Great acting by all the regular characters. Walter is a super smart high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with lung cancer. He has a wife, son, and an unborn daughter who he realizes that when the cancer kills him, he will leave them with nothing. So, when he finds out that one of his students runs a crystal meth empire and how much money he could make doing this job, he decides to join Jessie and start to cook. Now when I first heard what this show was about, I thought it was stupid. I mean, a 50 year old man just suddenly decides to cook meth. But then I saw the pilot, and the way they handle this story is executed is so damn impressive, i don't even think that the 16 emmy's that this show won doesn't do it justice. Now, I know that 16 emmy's are record shattering numbers, but it should have won EVEN MORE than that. Each character, every word that is spoken from these characters mouths, hell, EVERYTHING THEY DO ON THE SHOW IS INCREDIBLE! Now it's time for the "flaws" on this season. Now, Marie is not that interesting in this season, and her performance is okay. She grows throughout the series and I liked how she did evolve until the last episode we see her on. The last "flaw" I think is that the season is pretty slow. But that's not a big flaw AT ALL. I think the best episodes on this season are Episodes 1, 2, 3, and 6. But because of those "flaws" I give this season a 9/10. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok, so I skipped this show since it dayview back in 08 and I'm glad I did. Never understood the hype behind Breaking Bad, sure the acting by cranston is great but I think all the memes, all the heisenberg T-shirts, the heisenberg costumes in a halloween party and the constant talk about BB made my expectations to great.
I was hoping for a show that had a great character, I mean everyone has had that thought right? What would I do if I had a terminal disease? Would I be the next drug lord, talk **** about my worst enemie, or go punch that dude that I hate just because nothing can be worse than dying.
And in some way this does happens, we see Walter struggle trying to keep it hidden from his family and then we see him screw everything for everyone later in the series. I mean Walter has moments when he is such a BA but most of the time comes out as a whiney b...ch. Skyler for god's sake is the best character but also the worst **** I mean he did it for you!!
Most of the episodes are boring and barely watchable and when something good happens it lasts only a couple episodes. Early in the series you would think it's a comedy show, I mean everything jessie and Walt do goes wrong. EVERYTHING. It's like the three stooges.
Anyhow that's my opinion, not a bad show, but can't understand why it was so succesful.

The show, so far, doesn’t have quite the right ingredients--it could use something more combustible in the mix.
  2. Breaking Bad mixes desperation and deviousness to yield a volatile, valuable product.
  3. Give Gilligan credit for a pilot, written mostly as one long flashback, that is suspenseful and surprising. Cranston is always fun to watch and Bad is no exception. What's more, a strong supporting cast suggests there is a lot of room for this series to grow.
