BoJack Horseman is one of the most strangely human shows out there right now. It understands hardship, it understands humanities push towards wanting to be happy. It understands how happiness isn't this thing u can achieve, its something that comes with hardship, something small, that isn't always constant.

Its emotional, its strangely philosophical, and its easily one of the greatest shows currently being streamed. Its sincere, and understanding, but also harsh and gritty. Its life, unevenly paced, and absurd.

It's not the best season in the franchise, it has its issues. But by no means is it not enjoyable or not entertaining. I highly recommend watching Bojack Horseman.

During my time watching I did not feel bored a single time. Every filler episode served a purpose to each and every character and brought the story forward. We learn so much more about some characters, while being introduced to a few more. With all their respective back-stories being interesting and giving a better view of the world. I wanted to stop watching after some episodes to think, think about how deep the episode really was, or how I can see myself in the same spot. All the characters, supporting and main, are reacting to eachother in a real and wonderful way. To the opening scenes of episode 1 with Diane to the fantastic side stories. And what I love about this season is how it has the entire first episode without bojack. To really tell the audience that, this isn't just Bojack's story, this show is so much bigger than just him. But for how much I loved this season, there's one thing I personally find annoying. This show doesn't realise when to have a serious scene going, they always keep interrupting the heaviest scenes in the season with some shenanigans from Todd or Mr.Peanutbutter.I'm NOT saying this makes the heavy scenes less enjoyable, but I feel like I'm dragged into a new scenario way too quickly to really stare at my screen thinking what just happened. So, yes I found it annoying and unnecessary, but it did get me to laugh a few times when it happened after all. And out of all the time I spent today watching this season. I personally feel that episode 6, 11 and 12 was the ones I experienced the most. Because they felt so real, even though episode 11 I can not relate to at all, I feel it brought more depth to one of the characters I felt was lacking in that area. Episode I felt I could relate to a lot more, and I think everyone can. And then there is episode 12, the grand finale of the season, that always leaves you hanging there wanting more out of it. But it was a great ending to the greatest season. And it really makes you wonder what they can come up with next if there`ll be a fifth season. Overall I give this a 10, for it's ability to have me completely stunned over what happened, even crying to some extent. And even though some moments left me confused as to why something happened, the small details in the background and the consistency really makes up for it. Expand

Without spoiling too much, they took a character that I hated but they made her very sympathetic and it made me tear up.
To people who thought that the show is repeating itself, this season is different from the other ones, it's more uplifting than depressing this time (even if it has the darkest scenes of the entire show) and it definitely has the most heartwarming ending that the show ever had.

This season has great characters, great comedy and great dramatic moments that made me tear up, this is still my favorite show of all time and I highly recommend it.

I love this tonal shift as it gives the show a much-needed maturity not seen in many other shows nowadays, and this pays off soo well in its favour as the show can really play with your emotions and wow... it can get really depressing at times, really dark and downright **** up. the flawed characters, the messed up world of hollywoo and the existentialist themes especially are amped up to 1000 making it an amazingly deep, emotional and depressing series to watch. this season was by far the most emotionally gratifying one by far. however it wasn;t perfect, there was quite a lot of filler in this 12 episode season which I could have done without, characters which were really interesting and important in the last seasons are just not as much right now and can be quite annoying, breaking the flow of the emotionally heavy scenes in that very episode. this was a great season, an amazing journey but the filler in this season was very noticeable and didn't flow at all this time. This season has more depth and emotion than the best TV. I know that it mocked Sopranos in the promo images, but no show SINCE the Sopranos has had such well rounded and flawed characters. Best **** ever.

This season of BoJack Horseman is a bit of a shift for the show as it focuses more on its titular character’s family life rather than the ensemble of kooky characters we’ve come to love. While that makes for an uneven season, the deeply emotional story is by far some of the best scenes we’ve seen on this show.

It also has some of the show's most heavy hitting material, and not just politically. We get a look at BoJack's family history, and what's there is outright horrifying. When the season first starts off BoJack's self-pity and misery feels a little too familiar though. The show has begun to show's formula has started to show the slightest signs of growing stale. Luckily, some big shakeups to BoJack's life, a surprise new character, and the surrounding character's plots make up for it. By the time the season ends, the future of the show looks brighter than ever. It sets up season 5 for some potentially huge stories.

I really enjoyed what they did with Princess Caroline and Todd this season. The latter's struggle with his sexuality (or lack thereof) and his decision to move away from BoJack add new depth to the character. Princess Caroline continues to be a compelling counterpart to the title character's defeatist attitudes. Life hits her just as hard, but she never gives up. It's a wonderful contrast that has made the show more compelling. Mr. Peanutbutter continues to be relegated to the role of comic relief. While it's hard to complain about because he's so darn funny, I can't help but feel like the character is practically begging to take on a larger role. Then there's Diane...

Diane is a character that in my eyes has struggled with maintaining relevancy on the show ever since the conclusion of the first season. The writers have always kind of hinted at the fact that she is the one who BoJack is supposed to end up with in the end and find true happiness with. Given that she is prone to same miserableness he is and is really the only person who understands him. However, her marriage to Mr. Peanutbutter has put that on indefinite hold and it feels like the only reason she is still around is to serve as a vehicle for episodes featuring political and social commentary. That happens again this season as topics such as gun control and misogyny are touched upon. While that would normally be well and fine with me, with Diane it isn't. Because not only has the character struggled with relevancy, she's struggled with likability as well. As far as I'm concerned, that's a battle she lost this season.

Now BoJack is a miserable sort. Prone to self-destruction, depression, and occasionally cruel behavior. However, all of that is made up for due to the character's complicated past and by the fact that he's actually a good person underneath it all. Diane is just as miserable. But that's all she is. Based on what we've learned about her over the course of the show's four seasons is that there's really no reason for her to be so awful. No traumatic childhood experiences, no constant kick in the pants by life, no anything. Everything works out for her and yet she still treats those around her like crap. And we're supposed to be excited for the potential concept of her ending up with BoJack? I really just want to see her written out of the show at this point.

Dark revelations, a wide range of humor, and newcomer Hollyhock keep the show going very strong even in if some cracks have begun appearing in the show's sardonic armor. We witness what could be the first steps towards a conclusion as the ending finally makes some actual progress in potentially curing BoJack's mental state. There's genuine character growth. The writers are just going to need to make some minor adjustments to keep things going from here.

    -Bojack's seasonal arch
    -Diane's seasonal arch
-The animation is even better this season

    The Bad:
-Princess Caroline's Arch - it just seems so counterproductive to me to have another character arch that is as depressing and as unfortunate as Bojack's. I don't quite yet see what this will do in the big picture for her character, so right now my gut reaction is, "great, more melancholy."

    The Ugly
-Todd's Arch. I'm not even entirely sure what his character is adding to the show anymore, to be honest. I didn't find him as funny as I did in other seasons, and I don't find him to be too relatable either. Especially when his arch is cut side-by-side with how intense Bojack and his mother's arch was, it just falls flat and I ended up skipping most of the parts he was in by the end.
