To Ben Mendelsohn, you are every bit the actor Deniro is. Your portrayal of Danny was nothing short of perfect and most likely more real than the writers ever envisioned. Deeply human. To the rest of the cast, I applaud you and your performances that brought each character such life that the viewer could almost predict how a character would respond in any given situation. I'm not saying the show was predictable; rather, your performances revealed the essence of each character in both nuanced and hard-hitting scenes. Thank you. Expand

In some ways I could almost connect with it (maybe not at the same level as the Rayburn family) because every family has a little drama and their own secrets.

Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn stand out in this series. Especially Mendelsohn who plays the "black sheep" son Danny who has a bit of a dark past. You can't help but feel sorry for Danny as one major mistake seemed to ruin his relationship with his whole family. Kyle Chandler plays the "generic cop lead character" but it eventually gets to the point where he maybe isn't as perfect as he lets on.

Season 1 is a slow burn but its consistently peeling away layers and keeping everything interesting. There are so many great scenes over the course of this season where its just two characters sitting and talking. Bloodline season 1 is certainly worth a Netflix binge if you haven't done so already.

I only have two gripes: first, although the writers and prop-masters did an excellent job in conveying the fact that this is a true Florida family (love the reference to Florida State University for Meg), there were two mistakes: Meg is supposed to be an attorney in Florida, which means that she should have a Juris Doctorate. However, the diploma on her wall shows that she received a "Juris Master" degree from FSU. Although this is a real degree (and FSU does have such a program), it wouldn't entitle you to practice law. See http://www.law.fsu.edu/academic-programs/juris-master-program. The other mistake shows up in both Seasons 1 and 2. A prosecutor in Florida is called an Assistant State Attorney (ASA), not an Assistant District Attorney (ADA). Although a number of states use ADA's, Florida is not one of them. Expand

Like the show and the captivating drama, but what is with the over use of the f word? Really can not watch this with children around. The f word is just about in every sentence, becomes annoying. Otherwise I would give this a higher rating.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This has to be one of the best series I've seen in ages! What a fantastic plot (which could be somewhat believable actually)....loved how pieces of the past were slowly brought to light in most episodes so you could understand the events and emotions going on in the "present"...all excellently done.

The acting was spectacular, and you couldn't help but get into each character's persona. I've been several times to Islamarada, Florida, so can say this series also perfectly captured much of the local lifestyle in so many ways.

The beautiful theme song and haunting panning photography intro is superb, which sets the promise that something is coming that changes as quickly as the weather and time in the intro.

Every actor did a superb job, and the cinematography and editing was perfect. Everything was done in a hauntingly and beautiful way that set the tone.

Bloodline hit home, as it touched on family issues some can relate to....like a "black sheep" in the family, secrets withheld with good intent (or not), a bonding at times and changing the bonding, a sibling with a bad temper, the "perfect" sibling who may or may not be so perfect...a parent who may or may not have secrets that affect the kids. There's a character here somewhere that most anyone can relate to in Bloodline. I think that's what made the mark, because the actors each displayed such different personalities and situations, even those persons outside of family.

Season 1 was awesome...I cannot imagine how Season 2 could surpass it in it's originality. What a challenge that will be, and so very looking forward to it.

Yes, I felt it built up little bit slowly but then it was build up for good. The performances of Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn are praiseworthy and all in all the show gives you thrills and it has now established a very good base for next season.

I really, really like "Bloodline"! The characters are normal people that could be your neighbors and friends. So when the bad stuff happens, it feels real and scary! I really felt it. The rain, leaves, and the beaches make a very atmospheric portrait of the Florida Keys. I loved the actors, the music and, of course, the Keys!

It was beautifully filmed and acted, although why Mendelsohn is barely mentioned in the credits here, was in a good number of scenes, and while you might be afraid of what he was going to do next, he overtook just about everyone, except Sam Shepgard who still steals every scene he is in with that aging charisma he has. The use of flash forwards and flash backs is cleverly used and makes this show more intriguing to watch. The character development is brilliantly well done and I loved how one character's decision will affect everybody else and the plot that it makes this show more interesting as it goes by.

My favorite part of the show was the cast performances from Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini, Ben Mendelsohn and Sissy Spacek. Kyle Chandler played John Rayburn so perfectly and because of this, I have interest in watching his previous show Friday Night Lights. Linda Cardellini played Meg Rayburn so great as well. She played the character who is nice and wants to help whenever she can even though she can't solve everything and Cardellini captures those emotions so well. Ben Mendelsohn is my favorite actor in the show. He manages to play Danny Rayburn, a shady character that I used to sympathize so brilliantly that he deserves an Emmy nomination. Lastly, Sissy Spacek played the matriarch of the Rayburn family Sally so well and she captures the emotions of a mother who wants everything back to normal and is glad to see her son coming back.

The writing is great and consistent, the directing is flawless and also consistent and the cinematography is so beautiful and rich to watch.

Bloodline is Netflix's answer to HBO's True Detective with its compelling character development, consistent pace, excellent cast peformances, great writing, consistent directing and beautiful cinematography.
