The mystery of Blood & Water is interesting enough to keep us watching, but the performances of Qamata and Ngema just make the show that much better.
-
It’s very soapy, but not quite addictive, ending with a cliffhanger that all-but screams a second season is as inevitable as Thanos.

The show has structural integrity—valid dramatic reasons why it continues, at least through episode 6. ... What the series lacks are the kind of performances that provide emotional hooks, but that may be less about the acting than about the writing and direction, which are more concerned with forward narrative motion than the kind of reflection, asides and intimacy that foster affection between well-wrought characters and their audience.
