Jan 1, 2020Not sure I understand the critics reviews. I personally thought season 1-3 was some of the best tv I have ever seen, I love this show. To me season 4 definitely fell off a little. Don’t get me wrong, it was still good, just not as good as the first 3 seasons.

Mar 18, 2019Excellent first episode... the chuck storyling reminds me a bit of the Ocean's 11 set-up - you don't know how it will all play out at the outset, but you play along, and the genius of the storytelling is revealed at episode's end...

Mar 31, 2019By far the best thing on at the moment. It has its flaws, complexity of plot, then over simplification. How many TV progs, make you feel tension and excitement, watching the story/plot build? Excellent acting, suspension of disbelief works and works well.

Apr 19, 2019Still fun after these few years, until John Malkovich arrives to chew scenery and deliver the worst Russian accent heard since...John Malkovich in Rounders. The season is somewhat dented by the lack of chemistry between Damian Lewis and Nina Arianda but elevated by the subtle and complex father-child relationship of Taylor and their Dad.

Jun 17, 2019The first season was OK, but this show has succumbed to “series preservation syndrome”, in which the writers decide to write not to create a compelling story arc, but to create a rationale for yet another season. Plus, the writing is God-awful and pompous and almost all of the characters are insufferable.

The series itself came into existence prior to Donald Trump’s ascendance to the presidency, and its piggish swagger felt like almost too much. Now it is the perfect pleasure, encapsulating all that we loathe about the hyper-wealthy and the ruthless calculations they make to consolidate power while allowing us to appreciate the brazen, strutting might and certainty with which these titans operate.

Season four of Billions charts a middle path, shifting around enough of its usual architecture to feel fresh, while also continuing to follow most of its original characters and stories. ... It’s fun to keep the game board mostly the same while swapping all the usual allegiances. It’s especially satisfying to watch Chuck and Bobby scheme together.

One of the genuine pleasures of the small screen returns, better than ever.
