The fact that this show has managed to recapture the magic that made the first season so good is incredible, all things considered. And Meryl Streep is just the greatest ever.

It's an amazing TV show that shows what it's like to be a woman today.
Very important themes leave the story more complete, this story that went beyond the romance of Lianne Moriarty.
Actresses capable of engaging the characters, and with the addition of Meryl Streep, made it look even better. This is a great job for everyone involved.

As silly and indulgent as ever, but Meryl Streep is a national treasure. I hope she lives forever.

The inspired addition of Meryl Streep as Mary Louise launches a wildcard to the lives of the Monterrey Five. Season 2 starts strong but eventually feels very disjointed. While there are individual scenes of brilliance, it fails to coalesce into a cohesive whole. The editing is choppy, nothing happens in the middle episodes, and the ending feels anti-climatic. 7.5/10

BLL's second season to me now feels like an A class celebrity soap drama. Things proceed with noticeably less tense thrilling sequences and with a far less witty and thought provoking screenplay. In spite of those differences, the production quality here is excellent and easily on a par with S1. Loved s1 but found s2 was not to my own personal taste.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Even though it doesn't have the mystery of who killed? and who did It? Big Little Lies Season 2 provides great drama and worth watching television. It was risky to do a second season after the perfect first season, but at least in my opinion, it was, at the end, a good choice. In this season, we get to see the resolution of our "Monterey Five" characters. With Madeleine, Ed knows about the affair, and she gets to apologies and be at piece with herself and in consequence, with her marriage. We see how Celeste deals with the death of her husband, I love the moment when she kiss the screen of her computer, and we find out that it was a video of Perry that was getting eliminated. How Jane finally gets in the way for a new and healthy relation. How Renata, after taking every distraction from work, realizes that she married an **** as husband, so she decides to leave him and get her daughter with everything that she has left. And finally, Bonnie. We discover that she really doesn't love Nathan, and how she´s dealing with the fact that she pushed Perry to his death. So, yeah, we have a lot to chew in this seven episodes. An standout is Meryl Streep as Mary Louise (Funny because that´s her real name) Perry´s Mother. Her performance was amazing, she is funny in sometimes, but scary, and hateful in almost all the show. It is kind of impossible to hate Meryl Streep in a character, but you do in here, and that is unbelievable. Everyone is great, but besides Meryl, Nicole Kidman is incredible, she adds so many depth to her character that is incredible, even that Nicole is a world known superstar, you don´t think for a moment that Celeste is a character played by Nicole. But, this season is not perfect, because of some characters that were very important in the first season, but somehow didn't make It to the top in this one.One of those, is Jane. We´re glad for her when she decides to be with Corey, but it doesn't seem that satisfying because we don´t get to be with her a lot this time around. The same is with Madeline, the bad in this case, is that we don´t see her as much, and the thing that she´s dealing with is very difficult and interesting, but it pales compared to the other cases of Celeste, Bonnie and Renata. And also, I didn't get why they include the story of Abigail (the college thing) because it added almost nothing relevant to the story. But in the end, BLL 2 was great and really great television. By the way, I love the ending, it ended the same as the first, all "Monterey Five" supporting each other, no matter what, and as Celeste said in the last episode, "the lie is the friendship". Expand

Dealing with the fallout of the season 1 finale, this follow-up lays into the domestic drama aspects with full force, and with the always welcome arrival of Meryl Streep, you can't help, but think of it as the Kramer vs. Kramer/Wright vs. Wright season. The relationships between our well established characters are explored even more (especially marital wise), and we get more glimpses into some of their pasts. Some could argue that the stripped back style, the lacking mystery element and the overall "unnecessary follow up" nature of this continuation is apparent, but that never takes away from its overall enjoyability, thanks to the wonderful performances. Big Little Lies continues to be a beautiful showcase of talent for its stellar cast.

Overall, I think I found the first season more exciting, but this one engaged me more.

An unnecessary second season, but a thrilling guilty pleasure. You can't get bored watching Kidman and Streep fighting.

Season two keeps the drama level very high, sometimes was too much, but the performances were supreme.

The production quality of season two is just as good as the first, but the story limps along and isn't nearly as enthralling as the first. This season should be the conclusion of the series.

Big little lies two has exceeded my expectations, I was curious to see how they were going to follow the incredible first season, and after 2 years of waiting it was certainly worth it. 100% recommend this show.

Season is good. Obviously can go deep into each characters story this season. It was mostly about Nicole Kiddmans character. Not a lot of Reeses. More of Zoe's. Not a fan of Meryl Streep but she was the perfect person to play this weasel mother-in-law character. Went from hating her to feeling sorry for her at the end. Eve

Season 2 of BLL could aptly be summed up as an exercise among top-level performers to deliver truly piss-poor dialogue convincingly. They don't; no-one could. But maybe there's something like beauty in this visual proof that some things are just plain impossible; like a video of Joey Chestnut failing to eat a stack of hotdogs that's just. too. tall.

Just like the first season, this is addictive pulp but does come across as being a tad unnecessary.

No second series slump here. Actually, sometimes it was too fast, going for short, staccato scenes, which can be frustrating because often the conversations begged to evolve much more. But this is a small niggle. This stellar cast of women is a buffet of flavours.

Though there are a few moments where Kelley gives in to his tendencies for burlesque – as in the characterization of the principal of the elementary school attended by the main characters’ children – in the first three episodes, “Big Little Lies” retains the invigorating mix of dark comedy and drama that made the first season so special. ... Rather than running out of gas in its second season, “Big Little Lies” is more deliciously watchable than ever.
