Season 1 and 2 were absolutely fantastic. Something has changed in this third season, I don't know if it's Louis C.K.'s absence or other factors but it's just not as funny. It's ok, but not as good as the first 2 seasons.

Pamela Adlon is a genius. Better Things is the best show on TV nowadays. And that's it.

My wife and I were huge fans of the first two seasons but we've abandoned the third season after the first few episodes. Where in S1 and S2 this show managed to be so genuine and heartfelt it is now weird and overly sentimental, and the hilariousness has gone all out of it. A really sad development, we'll miss this one!

Task so ambitious that in my opinion almost impossible to achieve, and yet somehow it succeeds. For me it's real magic – and real artistry. Expand

Intimately crushing television for those who can set time for slow burna achievements. Very well developed despite the kids still remaining a drag to witness, still it is not hampered down,no. It is a touching near diarist look into middle age, motherhood, family and love.

It’s most resonant when it treats its heroine as a moral mixture. When, a few episodes in, it begins to dive into Pamela’s messy unconscious, it deepens, hitting on disconcerting themes about sex and loneliness. The show’s moody, jazzy style, its reliance on the unexplained image, can border on pretension, as jazzy things so often do, but it lingers in your mind, agitating in a good way.

The eight brilliant episodes provided to critics suggest the show is better off for the upheaval. Better Things’s energy is stronger, clearer, and even more seductive, wrapping its viewer up in the hairy details of life with real people.

Better Things is the kind of intimate show that captures the characters' mundane expressions of love, frustration, and loneliness so accurately that you forget about the art and effort behind them--the sensitive scripting, the genuine acting, the respectful direction.
