    A show that took a Mamma Mia song and made it melancholic with sprinkles of sibling drama.

    Every season, every year, this season gets stronger and stronger. ‘Better Call Saul Season 4’, is TV excellence in magnificent fashion. I petty those who checked out after the slow burn season 1, because being overly spoiled at once, especially so early on, isn’t how to develop the world and characters. If it this show was over spoilt, it would look like the later seasons of Game of Thrones.

    Vince Gilligan is the G.O.A.T.

    This season offers scenes that felt so disturbing with the emotional core feeling so real. The best compliment I can give to any show ever is it doesn’t feel like a TV show where the behind the scenes are camera crew and actors. It’s like am a fly on the wall, intruding on these people’s lives and quite literally witnessing the final days of their lives.

    How this season carries on with the death of Jimmy’s brother Chuck is a brief, yet a devastating realization that Chucks death wasn’t a sacrifice, but simply a man who was driven mad by the idea of his brothers success. Jimmy being the main cause of his death flips the morals of the characters on it’s head. I hated Chuck, but I understood his illness was very serious and how it had a huge impact on the relationships with the people in his life. However, I felt bad for Jimmy, because of how his brother treated him. Just like ‘Breaking Bad’, there are no good or bad characters. They are just characters with both good and bad in them.

    Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn were both terrific this season. Odenkirk slow transformation into Saul Goodman that while it was an amazing character arc, but incredibly tragic, because I feel the reason why a lot of people checked out so early on is there wanted to see the lawyer from ‘BB’, while not knowing the backstory to how he got there, which now gives you a different perspective on the character. Over time you start to notice the sleazy tone come out of him. Seehorn hasn’t gotten the credit she deserves throughout the past seasons. Her reaction and silence says so much that words couldn’t. I’ve always brought into the relationship between Jim and Kim. Lola Marsh "Something Stupid" montage between the two demonstrates it beautifully, which by the way if you watch the scene with earphones on, the track is splitted. So you can hear on the right one just the man's voice and the Jimmy clip, but on the left is just the Lola's voice and Kim clip. I’m not sure if this detail was intentional or not. Either way it adds to the scene wonderfully. However, by the end her faith in Jimmy has completely gone, as he completes the transformation to Saul. It was a sight for sore eyes.

    Giancarlo Esposito is great once again as Gus Fring, especially Gus's sinister story that he tells to Hector to keep him alive and tortured, as part of his revenge. "The merciful thing would have been to kill it.... I kept it". - I mean god damn that’s cold.

    The cinematography in this season was absolutely excellent with a couple of perfectly framed shots implanted in my head. The very last shot of the very last episode when Mike kills Werner. No music, just night time silence with the sounds of footsteps on the sand. It’s dark and almost hard to see, yet light enough to see the unfortunate that will happen. Wide shot in a wide space in a dark desert. Then a split second, a bright light coming from a gun which lights up the desert. A delayed gunshot sound from the distance. And then silence. Now we understand why Mike got so mad when Walt destroyed the lab in ‘Breaking Bad’. Jonathan Banks Emmy award is long overdue. Perfect episode to a great season.

    Given that Breaking Bad is a masterpiece, being its prequel is a very difficult and demanding task. There are very high expectations. And yet, I'm glad to say Better Call Saul manages to be a very worthy prequel. Interesting, well-written story and very solid performance from the actors. If you liked Breaking Bad, you'll like Better Call Saul.

    Better Call Saul is still a near perfect show. This season takes place right where the last one left off, and did a perfect job of it. I can't wait to see what else this season has to offer.

    Better Call Saul is AS GOOD as Breaking Bad, plain and simply.
    If you never started this show, do it and give it some time, it will grow into you.
    The cast is phenomenal.

    There are no other shows on air that compare to BCS. To compare it to Breaking Bad is a serious error, as the show has more humor, wit, and empathetic characters then BB. The show's a slow burner, ratcheting up the tension, and drama organically. There are no clear lines between evil and good as the characters motivations are believable and understandable. Bob Odenkirk plays the tragicThere are no other shows on air that compare to BCS. To compare it to Breaking Bad is a serious error, as the show has more humor, wit, and empathetic characters then BB. The show's a slow burner, ratcheting up the tension, and drama organically. There are no clear lines between evil and good as the characters motivations are believable and understandable. Bob Odenkirk plays the tragic Jimmy McGill perfectly and even when he's Slippin' Jimmy you can't help but root for his confidence man antics. Each episode in succession is cleaver, and tightly crafted. Beautiful shots of Arizona and intriguing angles and movements keep the viewers glued to the screen. The soundtrack always seems to be appropriate and distinguished. The quality of this show is fantastic, and I look forward to see more characters from BB make appearances.… Expand

    BCS isn't as good as Breaking Bad, it's a different show, with a much slower burn, it's "quirk" overpowers what BB used to fill with "tough", and that's not a terrible thing, but it does leave me wanting. Feathering in the BB crew much too slowly for my liking, Chuck was an interesting character but glad he's gone. Want to see a faster paced season this time around, not sure if we'reBCS isn't as good as Breaking Bad, it's a different show, with a much slower burn, it's "quirk" overpowers what BB used to fill with "tough", and that's not a terrible thing, but it does leave me wanting.     Breaking Bad's equal, if not better than the original source material. Better Call Saul has also lead me and friends to great moral conversation and philosophy; maybe even more so than Breaking Bad. It follows a great story even when its best characters are written off the show.

    Fantastic as always, but the show is starting to feel like it's suckling on the teat of Breaking Bad a little too much. We don't need to see Gus this much. He's not that interesting and the backstory isn't needed. I want to see Jimmy con people, and there's so much less of that now.

    Get rid of the Breaking Bad fan service and it's a 9-10 easily.     Some of the best writing, acting and plot development of any show out there. TV really does not get much better than this. This is right up there with the EPIC Breaking Bad. SOOOOOO Good.

    This first episode set the tone for a much darker fourth season providing subtle changes to Jimmy's personality that hint at his eventual dark turn in the future.

    Season 4 ends up being arguably the best of Better Call Saul. There isn't much runway left for the series before it fully integrates into the timeline for Breaking Bad which leads me to believe that BCS is likely riding off into the sunset with season 5 - maybe season 6 if the writers have enough story to keep things interesting. Still, it's been a solid experience the whole way as seasonSeason 4 ends up being arguably the best of Better Call Saul. There isn't much runway left for the series before it fully integrates into the timeline for Breaking Bad which leads me to believe that BCS is likely riding off into the sunset with season 5 - maybe season 6 if the writers have enough story to keep things interesting. Still, it's been a solid experience the whole way as season 4 keeps the bar high and ends on a great note that will make season 5 very intriguing to dig in to when it comes around.… Expand

    Even more cynical, after coping the tragical death of his brother, Jimmy wont stop at anything for recover his lawyer license. High aand higher expectations for next season, when we will see (maybe) the transform of Dr. James Mc Gill to Mr. Goodman.

    Skeptical after 1 episode; hooked after 2; "gotta have it!" after 3rd, and so it continues as one of my all time favorites.
    There are occasional facial expressions that say more than spoken lines, plus other subtle words or phrases that the viewer needs to catch that adds to this show's enjoyment.
    Top shelf all the way!

    This is the most Gogolian show on TV. As in Gogol the "Dead souls" writer. Masterpiece of writing (wit), acting (Banks, Esposito, etc. including the side characters), photography. Only 8 not 10, because some of the pacing could be better and the German story arc is ...meh...and it can get even better! Let's hope so!

Bob Odenkirk has by this point absolutely perfected his role as Jimmy/Saul but the supporting    Jimmy and Kim struggle to cope with Chuck's death whilst Mike becomes ever more involved with Gus’s criminal activities and his construction of a meth "superlab" under the industrial laundry.

    With every season Better Call Saul further cements its place amongst the all time great drama series. Bob Odenkirk has by this point absolutely perfected his role as Jimmy/Saul but the supporting cast including Jonathan Banks, Micheal Mando and Rhea Seehorn (who has somehow still yet to be nominated for an Emmy!) are just as important in bringing the brilliant scripts to life.    … Expand

    Truly fantastic. This far in the show knows itself well. Hitting the ground running following the explosive catalyst of Chucks death. Howard's performance is most compelling out of all of his previous seasons. Bob's now visible transformation into Saul takes form out of idle time through self sabotage, manipulative faults and lethal charisma Bob makes a convincing bid for best actor.Truly fantastic. This far in the show knows itself well. Hitting the ground running following the explosive catalyst of Chucks death. Howard's performance is most compelling out of all of his previous seasons. Bob's now visible transformation into Saul takes form out of idle time through self sabotage, manipulative faults and lethal charisma Bob makes a convincing bid for best actor. Nachos story becomes a nauseating nightmare as his woeful plan is hijacked by Gus's blackmail. Mando's nuanced characterisation can is given space to shine like never before. Mikes stoicism is finally pushed to it's limit by dilemmas he invited with his need for power. Power seems to reoccur pulling each character into more vulnerable states where it can be easily taken from them. Easily the shows second best.… Expand

    Better Call Saul' continues to dig deeper into its characters and close in on Breaking Bad at an excellent pace. We can see Gilligan's love for this story all the way through the first episode.

    This season is a masterpiece. It does everything season 3 does, but crazier, and this is where I really started to get invested into the story.

    The inaugural episode of the fourth season establishes a more somber tone and introduces slight modifications to Jimmy's demeanor that allude to his eventual descent into darkness.

    Better Call Saul itself is a haunted work of television, although the spirits surrounding it are hallowed and sacred; it exists as a prequel to one of the finest series of television’s Golden Age, “Breaking Bad.” But Better Call Saul stands on its own.
