If you've seen Fox's show "Touch", Believe has many similar elements. It takes what worked from touch, specifically, a kid with abilities and a guardian that protects him and kicks ass in the process, and people who want to hunt that kid down. While Believe's telekinetic protaganist Bo, a 10 year old girl ,shares many do-gooder,help random people tendencies with Touch's jake, at least she talks and seems interesting and you don't want to punch her.

The show reminds me a lot also of Quantic Dream Studio's hit PS3 title, Beyond: Two Souls with Ellen Page about a telekinetic girl wanted by the CIA. Believe is very cool, action packed, full of excellent fight choreography, interesting characters, and witty humor. It's a ride and a fun hour. I look forward to seeing where they take it.

This is a great show. The relationship between Tate and Bo is complex and well acted. I hope this show gets renewed and moved to a different time slot where it can flourish. The actors who play Tate and Bo are engaging and provide a relationship that is better than the other similar "supernatural" shows like Touch and Resurrection. I love it.

I really like this show. It is engaging and the character development is really getting good. Cannot wait to see what is going to happen next. I really hope this does not get canceled because now I am hooked on the show. Love the casting it is perfect.

I enjoyed my first look at this show, but I need to see more. My biggest concern is investing in a show that might not be given enough time to develop by the network. I hope they do give this show a chance.

Having greatly enjoyed the French series "Les Revenants", I assumed that this show would be a rip-off with a heavy dose of "Touched by an Angel" sugar syrup added. Maybe not! I watched the premier with a rigidly open mind and, despite a bit of angel syrup, I did enjoy it and I see good possibility for interesting development as the series unfolds.

The Pilot is incredibly wrong, seriously there is no other way to describe it. It is basically a bad version of "Touch" with worst story and much worst acting. I am pretty disappointed by the pilot. Maybe it is just not what I expected but I feel like I've seen this before. It reminds me of "Touch", which I did enjoy, but I don't think I am ready for something similar. I will give it another try but I fear that I won't become a "Believer".

I have looked forward to Believe for a long time, I was disappointed by the Pilot as it did not explain what had occurred previously or what was to come. The acting was not good and the female assassin was dreadful. I will watch the next couple of episodes. On its present performance there will not be a season 2.

I liked it. The story line kept my attention and the actors and actresses all played their parts very well i admit the pilot doesn't leave you with much in terms of the direction the series is taking but that's not necessarily a bad thing it has definitely kept me interested to find out what happens next

An excellent pilot. This show promises twists, turns, and nonstop action. Guaranteed to impress. Personally, I think this is the best new pilot that's come out in a long time.

This is what I thought from the first minute of the show. GREAT idea, terrible writing. The escaped Con, on the run, that goes into a vegas casino with 3 billion cameras pointed at him, swaggers up to a craps table, amber alert child 2 feet from him. Do they even have a conscious person in hollywood these days?

Let's look at the over the top acting. The lead character is over the top with his disdain of the little girl. He is over the top with his disdain for the asian agent. The only character that is even believable in the whole show is the Black gentleman's (sorry I can't remember anyone's name, even after watching 2 episodes back to back.).

Darn. I started out really liking this show. The little girl is great; the relationships worked. By the 3rd episode, though, I realized I wasn't looking forward to it, and I was tired of it before the episode ended. The entire plot seems to consist of we-nearly-got-'em-this-time chases, combined with, oh, suprise, the girl risked everything yet again to run off an help a stranger. Plus,Darn. Plus, I've lost count of how many shows (Crisis, Intelligence, 24, Person of Interest, etc.) rely on the worn-out all-knowing surveillance net as the key driver of the plot -- come on, people, Enemy of the State already did that better back in 1998, it's boring. I've just finished reading some interesting news about 'Believe' and I am shocked at the negativity and instability it has been getting. No thanks to the production crew who keep dropping off like flies. It's really too bad, this series thus far has been really good and viewer ratings high. Season one is only showing seven episodes and who knows if it will even see a season two. There is something about the premise of this show that seems so familiar to me. I can't quite put my finger on it, oh wait yes I can -- there was a movie called 'Firestarter' (1984) that was about a little girl who had telekinetic powers and was on the run with her father, because people wanted to use her as a weapon. The film was '80s campy and didn't take it's self too seriously. ButThere is something about the premise of this show that seems so familiar to me. The film was '80s campy and didn't take it's self too seriously. But I didn't get that vibe while watching 'Believe' I think NBC actually thought they'd successfully made some "good television". Epic fail! If I had to site one thing as being the proverbial nail in the (should this be renewed coffin), I would say the pacing killed me. Some of the scenes seemed minutes too long. I'm looking at the main characters anticipating that someone will do or say something worthwhile. Waiting for that final beat that would pull the scene together and just like the Christmas Eve I waited up for Santa...it never came. The little girl is okay as far as child actors go, she's no Drew Barrymore but good enough to play a convincing super kid in today's television landscape. Now her costar on the other hand...Jake McLaughlin's character comes across as a dim witted stoner. He never quite gets out of first gear -- his performance is phoned in or should I say emailed in, on the old AOL servers that took minutes to load. It's obvious that he and the girl are going to escape these situations, if they got caught that would be like time leaping ahead 12 hours on '24' -- so showing the bad guys and playing dramatic music isn't fooling anyone. Come on it's her show, she's gonna live to run another day. The story isn't engaging, the characters aren't memorable. The only thing worth watching on this show is the special effects. Now those blocks, when the kid made the lion. Now that was impressive. The car moving on it's on, bring it on. Get rid of the actors and rehashed plot and lets see some stuff move around on it's on for an hour. Now that's a show. No premise, no rhyme no reason just stuff moving. I do not believe in 'Believe'. I can not believe that it made it through the crazy process that getting green lit has been known to be. Seeing NBC's new line up really makes me question what cards they were dealt this pilot season. Should I be shopping a reality show starring my 10 year old Yorkie who knows seven verbal commands and has not had an accident indoors for the past 3 years?? Now that's talent if ever such a thing existed. If anyone has connections at NBC let me know. I think 'Pepper Don't You Pee' may be a hit. He could be the next Kim Kardashian or at least Honey BooBoo. Expand

I love Stephen King's works, including 'Firestarter,' and this new show 'Believe' has a kid with special powers, a father-daughter relationship that is being built and plot twists and turns that keep the action going. I think the critic's metascore is too low, and tend to agree more with RogerEbert.com and the 80 metascore given to this show by some of the reputable critical reviewers I trust. This show is going places, has amazing acting and character chemistry and did I mention there is a kid with special powers? Telekinesis special effects = great t.v., when done right; NBC is doing this one right. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a beautiful series, with so much potential for growth. It's wonderful to see that quality, wholesome TV can still be made that you can watch with your kids.
It's absolutely disappointing that NBC would cancel a show with so much potential for success. Then again, they did cancel Star Trek in 1966. Bet they wish they could have that one back.
If NBC goes through with the stupid idea to cancel this beautiful show, I certainly hope another network will see its potential and pick it up.
The character development was slow in the first few episodes, but the last few it has really come into its own. I love the "father/daughter" part of the series---the two characters are really growing close, and it really makes the series more exciting.
Thank you, Mr. Cuaron---for getting me back to a network show, if only for a brief time. Please don't let this show die---fight for it---it deserves to live!

Sequoyah is an appealing presence, doing what she can with an impossible wonder-kid role. And Cuarón is incapable of creating a boring shot. But he won't direct every episode. The only actor in the pilot who seems to be having any fun is Sienna Guillory as a hitwoman.
