Apr 8, 2012Series 4 was embarrassingly bad, they killed off the best characters and left the weakest. The introduction of new characters failed completely. It's such a shame that they didn't just finish series 3 and leave it there!

BBC America's Being Human (the original, not to be confused with the pallid Syfy remake) takes a stab at re-inventing itself--and magically pulls off the feat.

The special effects won't keep you up nights, the transformations and the blood remain un-frightening. Instead of such visceral sensations, the show reveals what's human in monsters and vice versa.

There's an awful lot of tragedy to process, but if you can get past all of what happened off camera between seasons, what's happening on camera is as powerfully, provocatively entertaining as ever.
