Nothing special to be fair. There is many better tv shows these days. The Titans or Gotham are much much better.

Batwoman, the actor, is cast well. The rest are not. The plot is incredibly predictable. There are inconsistencies and actions by characters which are nonsensical. A cookie cutter superhero show which will only be enjoyably to those too young or too recluse to have seen any other superhero show. Too bad.

After watching 2 episodes... I was done. Not good acting, poor writing... I just don't have time to watch until it might get better situation. There is too many other good things to watch... so if I hear it got better, maybe later?

After seeing the trailer for Batwoman i really question why someone would hire her as an actor and after seeing the first episode the question still stands. The only reasons i can find is her looks, her (shallow) "strong" attitude and her sexuality. She's not the "typical" strong heterosexual feminine female. She definitely didn't get the job for being talented. Ruby Rose is the stereotype of a bad actress/actor. "Look angry!" [clenches teeth, lowers eyebrows and widen the nostrils. ] By the way, it's nothing strong and cool about looking like, walking like, having a posture like and making face expressions like Justin Bieber. Anyone who defends her acting chops are lying or/and delusional. On the other hand, this seems to be the agenda with a show like Batwoman. Nothing's meant to be good. It's just pushing the feminist LGBT agenda. No, i'm not one of the typical people screaming "Woke!" about everything, but sometimes the "woke" and delusional consumes a production, like Batwoman, and it becomes terrible. In this case it's just too obvious. And that's why this show never will see a second season. They put the agenda above quality. It might see a second season if they scream "Haters!" and "Anti-feminist!" loud enough. Because in this day and age, some people rather push blame when they fail, rather than realizing they might be doing something wrong themselves. Like this show. Expand

This movie does all attempts to create a likable, cool, funny, strong, enigmatic, emphatic and overall great female character in the DC universe an BIG disservice..

I would love to know why DC/CW keeps on hiring people who have no clue how to write characters or a story for that matter. Most stories on reddits r/WritingPrompts are better written than this show. If that doesn't tell you basically everything you need to know, I don't know what does.

This show could be really good, if it was better written. Thinking back how good the early days of the Arrowverse were (meaning Arrow S01 and also S02), it hurts to see that this is what we have now.

So to cut this short, dear DC/CW, please for the love of batman, hire better writers!

I went in with a neutral stance.
So far, I love the arrowverse, flash, supergirl is okay, but I assumed the trend would be: good, good, decent, good.
But I was wrong. If batwoman was a man, people could call it "a fantasy for toxic masculinity", and that's what this is. Toxic femininity. Identity politics so over the top, that it just turns me away. I don't care about it, you can

    Toxic femininity.
Identity politics so over the top, that it just turns me away.

I don't care about it, you can have your stupid politics as long as you keep it on a very low pitch.

Critics only liking it because it's political.
If this was pro-Trump or whatever this stuff is supposed to be, the critics would give it a 1.

The fact that critics rate this higher than the Joker just shows this show is a dog whistle to the extremists.

Stop your politics, because it's not profitable.
How many comics following this nonsense political stuff have gone away? Right, all of them.

Gender identity nonsense mumbo jumbo doesn't sell.
Bad acting and cringe don't sell either.
This show shouldn't make it to season 3 if they continue this nonsense.

How much more can a franchise be ruined? No I don't care that the lead is a lesbian. No I don't care that the lead is a woman. What I do care about is a story without toxic feminism infecting it. Despite all the hate I gave it a go. And I'm done with this "show". Ruby Rose was right. This show is not for "old white dudes" which I am.

God awful. Poor Ruby Rose, her talent could have been put to such better use.

Instead of the show relying on a capable hero standing her own ground, it constantly has to throw in weak and completely unnecessary "stings" that are absolute, without doubt or remorse openly sexist to a degree near racism, and pit man vs woman instead of hero vs villain, and force a woman to clearly adopt super traditional douche bag male stereotypes (which doesn't this undermine the whole principle that women are as capable as men?). It destroys the characters individuality and stuffs frivolous attempts for the writers to "show their wokeness" in search for Twitter high-fives, and it ruins the whole show. They should take note from Catwoman in Dark Knight Rises. She is all female, and all powerful. A great character.

The writing in this show is so completely transparent in its pathetic attempt to rally current social radicalized niches against one-another instead of just being a great, well written show with a great lead and some great support cast too.

Huge disappointment, and I blame almost all issues on the pathetic writing team. Someone please fire them all and ban them from ever writing again. I heard McDonalds is hiring?

I have to say that as a real fan of the comic books and particularly all of the Batman "family" this show is a real let down. Couldn't they find a decent actor for the title role? The entire plot and story line is such a let down given DC does have a great set of stories for this character in the books.

Beep boop boop. If you cannot wait for every new season of CW's... shows... like supergirl and flash, you may, possibly enjoy this... but even then... Days of our lives are a bit better than this though.

Batwoman is truly awful. It is by far the CW's worst superhero show. Practically every element of the how, from the acting to the set deign to the dialogue, it truly some of the worst I've ever seen. Worst superhero show since Inumans.

I hate giving zeros. But the CW continues its streak of sub par, woke garbage. Batwoman isn't special, it's a cause. If this was on any other network. It would be cancelled immediately.

Poorly acted and written. I have no recommendations for who the CW could have picked to act in this, but they should have gotten the writers from Netflix's Daredevil as this would have been right up their alley.

Don't know what's wrong with the CW. They just keep getting worse and worse. It's like they want to self destruct or something. They are more about pushing radical left wing agendas now than giving us good shows to watch. Just awful. Used to watch Supergirl all the time until they killed that one with their left wing propaganda too.

No. Just no. This utter crap is politics pretending to be art and failing miserably. Just remember that in the real world this never happened. Just like Disney Star Wars, it is not canon to the franchise and never will be. At best it is a bad joke, or like a fart in an elevator. It was distasteful for a second or two and then it was gone forever.

Very bad show. It is even in a sense a humiliation for women. It's cheap and pointless. Already in the first frame in the water , it is clear that the actress , something in mouth , and Batman just ran away! That's ridiculous!

Everyone involved, of course, might fare better if they had a decent script, proper lighting, well-choreographed fight scenes and sets that didn’t look as if they had been nailed together from whatever was left after Michael Keaton left the building in 1989. ... For now, though, pure and perfect trash is what we need – and Batwoman provides.
  2. The show doesn’t seem to know how to handle Bruce’s absence, so he’s mentioned at every turn, making Kate feel less like a person with her own story than someone grafted onto his. ... The visual palette is all muddled grays or treacly, warmly lit flashbacks. The fight scenes lack tension and dynamism, relying on quick cuts and multiple angles to manufacture a false sense of energy. There’s also a missing spark of chemistry among the cast.

Batwoman has a welcome amount of openness and information sharing from the get-go. The series also does surprisingly well with establishing several key supporting characters. ... Around Kate Kane and Rose, there's a question mark. The camera is intrigued, gravitating toward her angular features, spiky hair and convincing swagger. I'm not sure she's as good at conveying the required authority or enigmatic mystery.
