    The bits involving the robots fighting and talking to the developers are great but it is a poor imitation of the British show.     Styling it like a Gridiron game has really made this 1.5hrs a struggle to watch.

    After 15 years Battlebots is back. The show is highly entertaining and the best thing about it is it does not take itself too seriously. TheAfter 15 years Battlebots is back. The show is highly entertaining and the best thing about it is it does not take itself too seriously. The best scenes are when the camera cuts to the announcers and it is like a deer in the headlights when bots are smashing against the walls, or you see a judge slam her head on the table and say I don’t know with a smile on her face.
    The bot fights themselves are enjoyable, however the arena seems to not work half the time, a bot will get stuck on the side, or the fight will be over in 10 seconds. The actual editing of the show is bizarre, with bios only being provided on one team or extremely brief random snippets, or the announcers wearing the same clothes on different episodes and really trying to wing it the best they can. You can tell the show was shot in a few days or even a few hours, with little planning, but for some reason it works and makes the show feel more unique. You don’t really know how much time the bots have to repair or just in general what the hell is going on.
    If there was more time for filming and fights the final product would be more polished. If they also focused more on how the bots work and try to make the show more educational that would also be a plus in my opinion. In the end I enjoy it and everyone involved does their best in the mess of it all. The end result is randomness of entertainment gold. Hopefully, there won’t be another 15 years until Battlebots returns again.    … Full Review »
