Season 1 Review:
As artificial as its setup might have been, Frontier House packed in lots of information about rarely discussed aspects of pioneer life. .... But, to its detriment, the show isn’t as frank or curious as its predecessor. .... Back to the Frontier comes alive in the moments when pioneer problems are met with contemporary flexibility and open-mindedness.

Season 1 Review:
There are gaps in the logic big enough to accommodate a Conestoga wagon and stakes that are very, very low. No one has a compelling reason to be involved except being involved; the families are only on-site for an eight-week summer; the surprise and outrage expressed by the participants is hardly convincing.
