It has amazing characters, amazing locations, an amazing story pretty much everything is amazing about it.

The greatest show I've ever watched. I loved it as a kid and love it even more as an adult. It has everything from amazing characters, awesome animation, great music and wonderful action scenes. Although a "kids show," it touches upon topics from genocide to sexism and does it in a detailed and mature way. The writing is some of the best in all of television, with characters you truly care about. The overall story, over 3 seasons, was near perfect with expert pacing. The story is funny, heartfelt, and often times mind-opening. This show is the definition of a masterpiece. It's a must-watch, no matter what age you are.… Expand

Started rewatching it after years of forgetting it's existence. I loved it and thus startet rewatching it again a day later, it was that great. The story is facinating and I have nothing bad to say about it. 10/10 would recommend.

I think no TV show deserves a 10 but this one. Spectacular animation, complex plot, deep characters and perfect circle conclusion where nothing is standing out. Everyone should watch this show at least one time in their life

This serie is a jewel the centuary XXI, takes "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" of Joseph Campbell, for develop Aangs character, and other inspirations of mithology chinese and japanese.

The animation drinks of anime, but this gets to be innovative to be fresh and that i doesn´t feel an anime.

Sokka,ZuKo,Katara;Azula...., and more more, characters good develop.

This is a required serie to watch before to die.… Expand

Great show. Great development of characters. Sokka is funny. Aang is fun. Katara matures well. Zuko develops the most out of all characters. Plots are intricately designed and offer the viewer wanting more with each episode.

The prime example of what cartoons should strive to be. It's simple on the surface, yet it contains so many deep and complex themes that a more mature viewer would pick up. The characters are truly a joy to experience, my personal favorite being Toph for her punky attitude and charm. The worldbuilding in this show is absolutely stellar. The writers were able to brilliantly create a living and breathing world for the characters to explore. The show's setting, both in setting and in time, is expertly crafted. The show's character building, by far, is the show's best quality. Every single main character and a large amount of side characters have personalities, problems, motives, and satisfying arcs. The shining example of this is Prince Zuko, a scarred prince, who antagonizes the protagonists in order to reclaim his honor from his father. However, he undergoes some immense change that I don't want to spoil right now. Please, just watch the show. You're missing out if you're not.… Expand

In each exist benders, those endowed with the ability to manipulate the element of theirAvatar: The Last Airbender introduces a fantastical world consisting of the Fire Nation, the Air Nomads, the Water Tribes, and the Earth Kingdom. In each exist benders, those endowed with the ability to manipulate the element of their respective nation. Aang, who is discovered to be the Avatar, (the only being capable of “bending” all four elements) embarks on a journey to master all four elements and halt the Fire Nation’s century-long expansionist war against the other nations. This premise allows the show to delve expertly into the ethical dilemma of war, which incurs an inexplicable personal cost to Aang and his companions, shaping the basis for their motives and development as characters. But despite the somber nature of the overarching premise, the show’s solemnity never manages to surpass the humor and comedy that’s adroitly blended in with it. This combination of gravity and levity exposes the show’s greatest facet and one of its recurring themes--balance. Avatar: The Last Airbender never falls short in one area, managing to incorporate two contrasting themes in equal measure in conjunction with its colorful, dynamic characters. Each character, with their unique, contrasting personalities contributes something different to the show, leaving viewers with an abundance of characters to love, appreciate, and favor. The plot, despite satisfactorily conforming to the viewer’s expectations, hosts unexpected twists and turns that keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats. In addition to the show’s phenomenal plot and characters is its comprehensive worldbuilding. The Last Airbender creates a complex universe with its own conventions, many of which are inspired by ancient real-world mythologies. These aspects establish the show’s unique identity and are intricately woven into much of the plot, enhancing the story with distinctive traits of the show’s setting. Aside from the script, the overall production of the show is also handled with extreme care. Despite its age, the show’s animation is crisp and vibrant in its later episodes, which succeeds remarkably in depicting the tale. The acting is also superb, with each of the character’s voices complementing their distinct personalities. The banished Fire Nation prince Zuko is probably the token example of this. Representing the stereotypical angsty teenager, he is perhaps one of the most emotionally-driven characters in the show, constantly exhibiting his anger in the most obvious fashion--his voice; and his actor is perfect for the role. The show’s producers are Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, though many of the show’s first episodes were directed by Dave Filoni, who is known for his work on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Rebels, and the more recent The Mandalorian. Even the filler episodes, which aren’t meant to contribute to the overall story, are great and help to flesh the characters out. The show’s pacing at first, although a little slow, accelerates in the first season’s later episodes. The recap episode is also phenomenally done and reviews the show in a humorous, unforgettable way that represents the show’s comedic essence while also perfectly capturing the show’s more dramatic moments. But despite the great assortment of episodes from each season, it's the show’s final episodes that carry its legacy. As every Game of Thrones fan is well aware of, you can have a great show ruined by a bad ending that manages to shatter its reputation. This is not the case with Avatar. Although there’s some deus ex machina sprinkled in, the ending is epic, heartwarming, and depicts each character at their apex. Although the climax lies in Aang’s conflict, each character has their own battles they fight that aptly depicts their growth throughout the show. And even considering Aang’s status as the titular character, no character is ignored and some even receive as much attention if not more, creating an amazingly diverse cast that I enjoyed watching grow until the final episodes. Overall, Avatar is absolutely amazing, and with incredibly few exceptions manages to balance its every aspect to a perfect degree. It’s funny, dramatic, sad, cheerful, and downright epic. From age 5 to age 50, the show is equally enjoyable and there’s something in it for everyone. Do yourself a favor and give it a watch.… Expand

This is about as close to perfect as a TV series can get in my opinion. The world building is precise and intricate, the character arcs are wonderful and the entire concept is executed with so much love, so much care and respect; that whenThis is about as close to perfect as a TV series can get in my opinion. The world building is precise and intricate, the character arcs are wonderful and the entire concept is executed with so much love, so much care and respect; that when you reach the finale you truly feel like you've been on a journey. It is thought provoking, full of incredibly self aware humor but also warmth and the dialogue and scripting is 99% pitch perfect. I want to write a longer review another time, but I wanted to at least start with this. I managed to convince my parents, who have no real inclination towards animation, especially one that aired on a children's station over a decade ago, but even they actually grew to love it, love the characters and the world they inhabit.… Expand

Super fun to watch, since kid i've always been trying to dominate all elements, when me and my family was at vacation at rivers, mountains,etc. There i always did the Kung fu movements like the art martial movements in the show, to see if iSuper fun to watch, since kid i've always been trying to dominate all elements, when me and my family was at vacation at rivers, mountains,etc. There i always did the Kung fu movements like the art martial movements in the show, to see if i can control any elements. Well, nothing really happened though, but i tried. Also what i like about the show, is the teachings of wise characters like zuko's uncle, he's always positive and teaching what he knows to people who are confused, like zuko, and other characters. And really love to see love relationships developing in each character like Aang and Katara, or Sokka and Suki. The Story is also very well explained and interesting, i don't know how to describe it more detailed but, what matter to me was the fun and the emotion i felt when watching the show. It's a 9 for me, the 1 point missing in the score was because of the climax parts, not gonna lie, there was some intense and sad moments, but there are few scenes i wish it could be more shocking, some of the scenes somehow looked like it was rushed. But i'ts a 9! So don't get it wrong, the show its one of the best animated shows ever, the point missing is almost insignificant. Good story, Good Characters, Good animation. It's a 9.… Expand

Sorry, I disagree completely. Avatar:The Last Airbender in my opinion doesn't deserve to be included down there with ChalkZone and Rocket Power, if anything this is one of Nick's best shows along with Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy and Angry Beavers.

The concept may appear simple and basic on paper, but as the show progresses the storytelling is grander, more epic and perhaps even more powerful. The animation is excellent, the music is great, the writing is consistently strong and the stories are outstanding in my opinion. And the characters, heroes and villains, have depth to them and are very likable. Avatar:The Last Airbender also benefits from superb voice work.

In conclusion, this is a brilliant show and somewhat underestimated. 10/10 Bethany Cox… Expand
