    I have always been a sucker for the fantasy genre, so I returned to Atlantis once again. Atlantis has stepped up it's game. This is mainly due to the serialisation of episodes that makes for a season that can successfully hold viewer attention. Season 1 relied on the show's charming characters to retain an audience week after week, due to it's episode separate stories. This is mainly due to the serialisation of episodes that makes for a season that can successfully hold viewer attention. Season 1 relied on the show's charming characters to retain an audience week after week, due to it's episode separate stories. By adding a progressive story into the equation this year, Atlantis should have no problem regarding viewing numbers. Another major change is apparent. Season 1 had a sense of humour that could undercut all the drama in an entertaining way. This is no longer the case as Atlantis is darker and more of a drama than it is a comedy this year. This is a critical positive but does take an element of comedy away that was rather splendid. The action scenes are slightly more convincing this year as are there outcomes. Many die, whilst numerous people, including our three heroes, gain battle scars. Atlantis successfully builds upon the mediocre base it's debut year left behind, to become a more engrossing show with a progressive story, plenty of entertainment, and a cast that is really quite admirable.… Expand
