There is no way one can say crap about Arrow this season if they have seen and loved Season 1 and 2. The latest episode 17 shows who he truly is..... THIS is Arrow at it's best..... Psychopathic Villain at it's best. Psychopathic Villain who rivals even Deathstroke..... I love it.... CAn't wait for this season to cross season 2 ..... Good Luck Arrow!

But, surprisingly, Season 5 managed to not only be better, but to be actually good. With a new villain that actually felt interesting, and new additions to the main team, with deep changes that felt meaningful instead of just one and done, Oliver and his team really feel rejuvenated. Not everything was good mind you, because there were some filler episodes that truly felt going nowhere, and some of the emotional developments were not well handled or surprisingly rushed, and the flashbacks, while better that last season's, were not that well connected with the plot of the season, and don't get me started with the Olycity, because ugh... just thinking about them going back there makes me nauseous. Nevertheless, with an excellent season finale that promises a great star for next season that may change again the team and their developments, hopefully the show can keep going forward and improve once more for season 6. Keep it up arrow, because for this season, you were actually very close to being the best CW superhero show. Recommended for fans of superheroes or if you stopped watching because of season 3 or 4, time to go back to the original arrowverse series. Expand

Finally started focusing on the main character instead of just felicity. Also kept the show down to earth like seasons 1 which was the whole point of the character.

Arrow is back! Arrow works best when it's grounded in reality, which is why the first two seasons were so successful. Felt like watching season 1 and 2 all over again. The fighting was great and the overall tone felt more positive even if it was grim. The acting feels better and the villains don't seem like a 1 episode and done type like the last two seasons. Hopefully it continues to show a grounded Green Arrow and he uses more of his arrow gadgets this season. More arrow vs arrow is what I like to see!Felt like watching season 1 and 2 all over again. If the season premiere is any indication, then this season is going to be just as good as the first two. The action was great, the story was great, the new characters were great, and best of all, the tone is dark and violent again, just like it used to be. Greg Berlanti listened to our complaints, and he made Arrow great again.

Best season of Arrow. After the dissappointing season 4, Arrow is back!! Really loved Prometheus/Adrian Chase as a villain. Josh Segarra nailed it. Hopefully Season 6 also comes out good.

As an Arrow fan, it is a true privilege to see that Season 5 is a reform for the show, it's just AMAZING. We can all agree on one thing and that being Season 4 is amongst the worst in this shows history. The writers seemed to focus on the unspeakably trashy "Olicity Shippers" story line more than the conflict with Oliver Queen and Damien Dark, even that to be honest was a disappointment as well. Having an overpowered villain who possesses magic going down on a vigilante with only a bow and arrows, already doesn't sound like a fantastic idea to perform on television and at a creative stand point. The wonderful thing that Season 5 has offered so far in these 9 episodes is the brilliance of what made Seasons 1-3 so excellent. This Season has gone back to a much-grounded Season with focus on saving Star City again by fighting crime and criminals on the streets, more focus on Oliver Queen as the Green Arrow and an intriguing side story as the mayor, fresh new recruits to fight by his side and the return to the dark tone of the Series that calls back to the earlier Seasons. I've seriously haven't been disappointed with 1 episode so far and I can already forgive the writers for the train wreck that was Season 4, and it seems they have also learned from their mistakes. For me Season 3 Episode 18 was where I lost total excited interest for this show and where the show really did die and no longer was Arrow onwards, only what many of us fans would dare call “Felicity and Friends”. Season 5 has totally turned that around, by abolishing the **** traits Season 4 had, and I look forward to what the second half of this Season has to offer.
Welcome back Arrow, I've missed you so much. Do keep up the phenomenal work you're doing so far and continue to be the brilliant show I know you can be once again.

Amazing season, as arrow goes back to his roots, with great twists, following some of the source material and no inconsistencies, and much better acting to be honest, i think the people negative are just being so because they can't get over season 3 and 4, but this season is a big step up from those

The first half of the season is geared towards Oliver assembling a new team of vigilantes because his old team left him. The second half..who knows. So far, It's been neither good nor bad. It's only 2 episodes in so this review could change for better or worse. I am really getting tired of Arrow though. It's the same recycled stuff each season. Flash is a much better show.

Ditching the mysticism that plagued its previous two seasons with a more grounded plot, Season 5 of Arrow rediscovers some of its early grit and strength.

This season is really bad and not in the buffy the vamp slayer so bad its good. The new heroes are both uninspired and boring, too much filler for not enough episodes and its getting way to soap opera.

"Arrow: Season 5" goes a long way to make the show a better watching experience than it was in the previous two seasons, and while it mostly succeeds on the action, narrative focus and tone front, the series continues to be as expositional and procedural as it was in Season 3 and 4. This new villain and the renewed Team Arrow have represented a recovery of the best version of 'Arrow', which is neither too dark nor too twisted with their bad guys, and does not greatly enhance Oliver's tendency to do everything alone. Arrows stages a comeback with a compelling villain and intense action, still let down by weak characters in part and the constant need to put down the Laurel character.

Season 5 really helped redeem the show for many. Though it was a bit slow in the beginning, it soon picked up pace and became what I'd call a perfect comeback. And while Oliver was the only one who didn't trust Kara, Barry gave him a reason to. This looked like the time when all the characters were able to resolve their differences and move forward with their lives. Although the amount of talking was too much and there was still character development which happened by keeping unnecessary secrets, it all paid off in the end with the fight against Promestheus. The only way to describe this season would be that Oliver's past had begun haunting him, so he had to go back to his Season 1 ways. And that's why this season is so nostalgic. The ending was absolutely intense, and it basically gave me a reason to like this show again. Expand

“Legacy” very much feels like Arrow trying to find its footing once again, and though the episode takes some steps in getting the show back on top, more work has yet to be done to redeem the series for last season’s jumbled narrative.

Arrow is back with--thankfully--what promises to be one of its more grounded, grittier seasons ever. ... Perhaps the best news is that the fifth and final round of flashbacks are, one could argue, as compelling as the current-day narrative.
