Season 8 Review:
Are You the One? offers a refreshing divergence from many past incarnations of LBGTQ-focused dating shows. Though the series doesn’t eschew boozed-up romantic drama, it never plays its participants’ sexual orientations as the source of spectacle. ... For a series about 16 young people hanging out and hooking up in one giant house, it manages to be impressively earnest. ... Are You the One? remains a thrillingly tumultuous show, but for once, that chaos is driven by the queer cast members themselves.

Season 8 Review:
What works so well about this currently airing season is that all of the contestants are “sexually fluid” and allowed to hook up with anyone, instead of relying on the boring hetero couple formula that every other show employs. The result is both scintillatingly slutty and dramatic. ... It’s also the first dating show where I find myself actively rooting for couples to work.
