Arcane is the best video game show ever made. Especially for the people who already cared about the league of legends lore. Truly spectacular series. A bar setting production that studios will look up to when making animated movies/series. The visuals are impressive, since LD&R I wished for someone to make something similar than Sonnie's Edge as a feature film or series. The voice actors give the characters life and emotion, the music and sound fx are of high quality. But the story does not get off the ground. There's action and there is emotion and there seem to be emotional bonds between characters that we don't get to know much about and factions we don't get to know much about and it leaves the audience with a lot of guessing. Arcane is sadly the animated equivalent of a Michael Bay movie. All looks but no substance.… Expand

The believability of the characters really sells it. If that didn't work, nothing else would. The animation goes a long way in conveying their attitudes and motivations but if the writing was weak then it would all have been for nothing. TheThe believability of the characters really sells it. If that didn't work, nothing else would. The animation goes a long way in conveying their attitudes and motivations but if the writing was weak then it would all have been for nothing. The characters act so natural in their individual personalities and mannerisms while living in a world where people actually work, sweat, hope, sleep, fight, swear, fall in love, bleed, **** cry, die and make both irrational and rational decisions and at no point is the viewer constantly asking, "But why didn't they just do this?" because their actions always seem consistent with their characters. Early on a character hears another say something that turns into a misunderstanding but it isn't used as a lazy plot device - they resolve it almost immediately after because of course they would. Later another character seemed set up for being pulled so far into politics that he forgets his friend but NOPE - he actually stands with said friend in defying a superior, who himself is also guided by understandable motives and wisdom (but also a stagnated worldview) as afforded by his extended longevity compared to humans. The characters are doing the best they can within their respective circumstances and for the most part are making decisions based on what they think is right and not going out of their way to be **** But despite all of that, they still have conflicts because that's how the world actually works. Most wars don't happen because one side is moral and the other malicious, they happen because people have divergent interests and interpretations of right and wrong. And Arcane actually gets that. This is one of the greatest tales of our generation, maybe ever.… Expand

A true masterpiece;
Finished the season last night with my partner and we were blown away by the show, the ending made our jaw dropped. League fans for many years asked for a animated series exploring Runeterra and my did they delivered. AsA true masterpiece;
Finished the season last night with my partner and we were blown away by the show, the ending made our jaw dropped. League fans for many years asked for a animated series exploring Runeterra and my did they delivered. As you would know by now that Riot always does a great job at building hype and create events, they smashed it out of the park with this first season show which made all the hype well worth while. Music was amazing in and outside of the show, the music is very Amazing lore, story telling, it's got a great narrative on a dark setting that gets switched on and off throughout the show. Moments makes you connect with the characters and how story builds up along with it. The city of Zaun & Piltover was amazing to explore you could feel the tension between the two cities where the rich and poor have hot blood with each other, as Legends of Runeterra player I very much expected the cities to look like it does in the show but they went further and beyond with the art style, I was so stunned by such a style to look good as a show and there were lots of details of the art they portray it with. I wish I can give it more stars because it was a roller-coaster of emotions and they pulled off plot twists extremely well, there was many of times where I would predict what would happen as it builds up but something unexpected always happen and it puts you in motion. You don't need to play the games to understand it because the story is so good that any average viewer can understand and get easily hooked, if you played their games then lucky you it makes the experience much better! there were a lot of new characters and old characters that we may be familiar with and all of them felt like they had good purpose to be on the screen, there were no characters besides Silco that annoyed me in a way. The cast choice was something I was skeptical about it before I started watching the show but they couldn't of chosen anyone better other than the game voice actors, you could just really connect with the characters even if you don't like their persona because they still serve a purpose of being in the show. I give this show a masterpiece 10/10! just god tier story telling.… Expand

The show had me laughing, angry, and crying at different points because some scenes hit like a freight truck with their delivery; I can't recommend this show enough. Whether or not you've played League of Legends, you should watch Arcane. I promise you won't be wasting your time. I'm really excited to see what Riot is able to do with this IP in the future, at the very least I'm counting the days until we see an MMO in this setting and of course more Arcane.… Expand

Loving the animation style. And it's an interesting story that keeps you mostly engaged.

Unbelievably well done, the atmosphere and story alone are blazingly strong. Every character is so well fleshed out its difficult to choose a favorite. Every character is so well fleshed out its difficult to choose a favorite. THe way they use slow motion stops, the combat, the depth of alleys in gritty undercity this mini series oozes greatness. Honestly, I went into this not expecting much. Other than Castlevania and The Witcher, I’m usually not impressed by shows and movies that have a video game tie-in, especially since I have no knowledge of LoL. The animation is absolutely gorgeous, the score is fitting, the pacing doesn't drag at all and the characters are quite compelling, all flawed to an extent, but ultimately likeable, or at least ones you can empathize with. The story itself attempts to weave a couple of different journey's together and as of episode 6 has done a fantastic job of introducing the characters to each other. Highly recommend checking it out, if only for the beautiful artwork.… Expand

Tried LoL few times, but I never liked the game. That being said, this is THE best series I've ever seen, hands down. I'm putting it at the top of my list. A animação é bastante fluída e deixa claro as intenções e personalidade dos personagens através da expressões faciais e corporais, ponto onde mesmo grandes produções acabam pecando.
A narrativa foi muito bem arquitetada e as histórias selecionadas podem agradar tantos fãs do universo de Runeterra quanto a aos que estão sendo apresentados agora a esse mundo. Por fim, a música da abertura é sucinta e conseguem se encaixar perfeitamente no tema da série.
Apenas não darei nota máxima pois a história não coloca o Heimerdinger como o demônio da quinta camada do inferno que ele é.… Expand

I knew we'd be having an experience and it did deliver! The cinematography or the camera work looks fantastic, it looks like you are actually watching from a film. In the span of three episodes, they deliver wonderful worldbuilding for a person who knows nothing of the lore. Characters act naturally to their personality and attitude. You'd begin loving them with their development. You also sympathize with why certain characters reacted or did in the show. You'd feel bad to them and hope they wished for the best but fate turned them for the worst. Damn it, I can't wait for next week and the next next week.

Although, as much as I loved the third episode (the ending also broke me), there were some rushed moments and it could have added a few more seconds, but holy moly the battle choreography was a spectacle to watch. Hoping to see more on the upcoming six episodes!… Expand

Even though I was vaguely familiar with League of Legends, the lore is something I have not invested any time in understanding. The voice acting is top-notch and I like how they're doing the time jumps to kind of pass the time. I'm assuming if this goes off, the next season will maybe cover new characters. At any rate, I like the animation style, which is a combination of animation and 3D rendering. Kind of like cell shading but with more of a charcoal/blended detail. At any rate, this show has been great and a very pleasant surprise. I look forward to the rest of the season.… Expand

PS: Don't pay attention to the bad reviews, you can clearly tell by what they wrote that most of them are Dota fanboys that are still butthurt that LoL show is good and cannot live with the fact that other games produce good shows too. It's so funny how one guy said "don't watch this watch Dota Dragon's Blood" and then said "I totally don't like dota tho"… Expand

If you are looking for a good story and a little escape, this story is for you. What makes this great storytelling so far is that the writers and directors allowed viewers to dive into cause and effect. Instead of having viewers watch annoying flashbacks in a lazy attempt to connect us with the characters. You become attached to the characters and their stories before the journey begins. Episode one gives insight into the world of the lead characters and allows you to witness their trauma. Each episode gives you a sense that something is lurking, that something more is coming. These first episodes of Arcane are like a Charms BlowPop. Outside has color and taste, while the center (once you get there) has a little bonus for the time and effort. There are beautiful dark rich colors that help to convey the mood in every scene. Just like a video game, the story keeps moving, but unfortunately, you have to go where the storyteller takes you. I say this is unfortunate because you get the urge to stick with a character whose story has grabbed you at that moment. When the first forty minutes are over, you quickly click next in a rush to continue the story.

For harsher critics of Arcane, I say it is time to raise the bar. If you are going to ask viewers to go along for the ride, let it be with stories like Arcane. I went along for the ride with Midnight Mass, and that was a hellish nightmare of monologues. A cheap flat sucker lollipop with obviously nothing in the middle given to you at the end of a long and painful Doctor's visit.

I'm enjoying this story and each of the characters, especially the villain. It made me think back to when I played video games. My favorite game growing up was fantasy games. Arcane is a well-written, dark, gritty fantasy with brief flashes of bright shining light. A light that only serves to remind you that the darkness and the journey are far from over. I think you will enjoy what I believe is an exciting start to the story of Arcane and the League of Legends.

In a word, the show is just dull. I am a player of the game it comes from and familiar with the characters. That doesn't cloud my perspective on it, though there is some thrill in seeing those characters in a new format. The show would justIn a word, the show is just dull. I am a player of the game it comes from and familiar with the characters. That doesn't cloud my perspective on it, though there is some thrill in seeing those characters in a new format. The show would just be that much worse if the characters were ones we had never heard of.

The plot is a normal plot, and very middle of everything. It's not very heroic, not very slice of life, not very sci-fi-fantasy, not romantic or cute. It focuses a lot on the emotions of the characters, their personal gripes about each other, and their traumas. The action scenes echo this, there is some fighting, but mostly running and hiding. All that stuff seems to be ultra popular in American film, and it is definitely dull material we've all seen before.

There are other story elements and other characters, but they all feel in the same vein. Everything plays out about like you'd expect. Nothing surprising goes on, no one will be offended by the content, no risk was taken with this project. Blame the investors maybe. I think that may be one of the biggest problems for the show, what age group do they make it for? All ages? It may be just crushed under the weight of trying to be everything to every one.

Character portrayal is weird. Take Jinx, is she heroic? No. She's more setting up to be villainous. But the main theme for her so far is being a shame filled screw up. It's not interesting, and leaves a bad taste.

The graphical look is, how do I say this, good enough. Sometimes the surfaces and painted designs are very cool, sometimes they look like smudgy Deviant Art pieces. The animators do a great job, but it's only as good as the material. The voice actors are top notch I'm sure but they often sound like they don't care about the words they're saying. The dialog just isn't inspiring.

Well a 4 isn't a 1, it was serviceable and you will appreciate that at least it got a unique look and feel. There's plenty of special effects, explosions, and big scenes. I found the music to not fit at all (the music with vocals I mean) but it will be popular with many. And if the coming episodes cast the show in a better light I'll change the review. Six years of work for this TV series has come to its fruition: the environments are crazy and super detailed, the characters are well written and consistent with the lore with some really emotional and sad scenes, the action scenes are directed to perfection with impressive animations. But the most important point I have to give is to the graphic style, already from the initial trailers you could see that it has been successfully executed, to adopt such a refined and particular artistic style to make excellent super fluid scenes in every situation it really shows the quality and the passion that has been given to this series and that is why it deserves all praise and merit for the work that has been done in making it. We are in front of an animation masterpiece from the very first episodes, with visuals and a beautiful story of the origins on the protagonists that really deserves every known award, I can't wait for it to be recognized so much so that we can expect future series on this universe with its characters considering how many incredible stories there are from the league of legends universe, this series could really be the beginning of the "League cinematic universe".
