So far this show is very good. The world actually feels alive. It’s a little slow at first but I thought the slow build up was fine. Might be the best Star Wars content released since Rogue One. Maybe ever.

I didn't realize at the time that this series would become my favourite entry in the Star Wars universe, and one that I now fear will be short lived.

For anyone reading this that is on the fence, I urge you to JUST WATCH IT. Even if you have no interest in the Star Wars universe, WATCH IT. Andor is a slow burn of a series that places heavy emphasis on character building and story telling, the action isn't plentiful, but when it appears it's terrific. My greatest fear for this series is that it's splendor will be lost on the masses of Disney subscribers looking for disposable thrills. My eternal thanks go to the producers who stepped out of the box to make this series, and I sincerely hope Disney will see fit to fund several seasons more.

This is like a Tom Clancy novel, detail oriented, smart dialogues, realistic characters, an Empire that is truly threatening and uncompromising, real stakes. A glimpse into how the rest of the galaxy experiences the Empire's chokehold. Fans aren't treated like lobotomized consumers: no memberberries, no breaking canon, no spectacle without substance, no gaping plotholes, no tearing down of legacy characters. Andor... We're again exploring the time span between movies. Fortunately unlike with Obi-Wan, Andor seems to be heading somewhere.

In this show we're seeing how the Rebellion began, and I got to say that I'm amazed the Rebellion ever got anything done. Seeing its own members are more in it for their own personal reasons, than for the liberation of the galaxy from the rule of the Empire.

Cassian Andor is an interesting character, but he isn't that interesting. If the show was carried only by him, then we would have another flop on our hands. Fortunately we've Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) and Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), giving the show more than Cassian can offer. Although not exactly playing by the same rules Rael and Mothma are clearly crucial pieces of hopefully will become a far more efficient Rebellion than the one shown thus far.

The inner dynamics of the agents of the Empire are also very interesting to observe. Seeing that they show that the Empire only sustained their grip on the galaxy, because of certain key individuals. Without them, Vader and Sidious wouldn't matter for the Empire would've fallen even to a very inefficient Rebellion. The best Imperial characters thus far are Dedra Meero and Major Partagaz. All the other Imperial characters are mainly to give contrast to those two characters.

Andor has enough room to become better, and if it does I'll increase the score I gave it. But if it does not, then I'll have no problem stop seeing it.

Andor so far is only interesting and worth watching because it has lots of potential. If the show will live to that potential, that's another matter altogether

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Really enjoying it so far. Much prefer the slower pace and character development when compared to shows like kenobi, and boba fett. Not perfect, I'm a bit sick of Disney orphans to be honest. Why does every rebel or hero have to be an orphan or not have proper parents. Literally all the characters in star wars now have such a similar back story it's boring. I don't need to watch more scenes about protagonists without parents who somehow raised themselves without turning into lord of the flies

I find the imperial scenes and storyline more interesting tbh. Almost routing for them which means the writing is good. Would be interesting to see some of the imperial characters empathize with the rebels and vice versa (as people)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. REVIEW FOR THE FIRST 8 EPISODES OF THE SERIES, UPDATE WILL FOLLOW AFTER THE FINAL EPISODE

Andor is the best Star Wars show in 2022 and if it sticks the landing, it might even be the best show of this year all together.
Andor is a show that is very different from other Star Wars shows. It strips away a lot of the action, fantasy ellements and, dare I say, romanticism that we find in other Star Wars media, instead giving us a dialogue heavy and gritty sci fi show that focuses on the origin of the Rebel Alliance. This has unfortunately alienated some of the regular Star Wars audience, meaning we might not get more shows like this in the future. Such a shame.
Pasing wise I think it comparable to the earlier seasons of Game of Thrones: there are a lot of scenes of characters talking about their lives and views and characters scheming and working on a grand plan, with large action scenes mainly being reserved for the end of a story arc.

This pacing has worked so-so for the first arc of the season, which is a problem that mainly comes from the characters featured on Andors home world (non of them are very interesting, hence making their scenes a bit dull), but has an excellent action packed climax which introduces Stellan Skarsgård's Luthen, aka the best character in the show.
The second arc is executed much better, giving us an interesting look at the many souls that drift towards the rebellion and the interactions between them. It also gives us more lore on the inner workings of the empire through the escapades of Mon Mothma and a focus on the ISB (the Imperial Gestapo), with scenes in which the dialogue peaks. This arc builds up perfectly towards a spectacular climax in which we see something we haven't seen much in Star Wars (and no, Last Jedi's piss poor attempt to comment on war profiteering does not count): a less black and white but more grey view at the Galactic conflict. The Rebellion in this show is not afraid to fight dirty. They have an empire to crush and if innocents get hurt in the process, then so be it. It almost makes them come across as real revolutionaries.

Anyhow, here is a list of things the show does well:
- Great Dialogue that reveals bits of character intell naturally rather than in a forced manner
-Great expansion of the Star Wars lore
-Good performances from the majority of the cause, especially from Skarsgård, Andy Serkis and Faye Marsay
-Interesting side characters -Great cyberpunk-esque soundtrack
-The show knows how to craft great environments

And here is a thing the show could do better
-Make the protagonist more interesting / more focus on the protagonist. The show might be called Andor, but he more often feels like a spectator in his own show. He sometimes feels more like an audience surogate than an actual character. They have layed out some interesting story beats for him, but are yet to really pick up on them and they might be taking just a bit too long with that.

All and all, I am really enjoying Andor thus far and am eager to see how this show will continue from this point onwards.

In the dust of failures like Obi Wan and The Books of Boba Fett it feels like they finally hired a professional to do the job. Every single part of this series is outstanding, especially the soundtrack and sound effects. On top of that a convincing and deep story that will captivate you and make you feel with the characters. Just the overuse of shaky cam makes it a bit tough to watch at times, but those are luckily rare.

Instead of pointless SJW boredom they actually present characters with stories, traits and flaws. No one is a superman and no one can take it on a squad of Storm Troopers alone, because they are actually hitting and killing people. The seriousness of the situation of the empire turning from evil to worse is transmitted believably, and you feel the horror of their oppression with the characters as you watch it. The story takes it slow, too slow maybe for some who are used to action-packed Star Wars movies. But if you are ready to breathe in the air and the feeling of the universe of Star Wars, then you come to the right place. The scenery, the ambient sound, the music, everything radiates love for details, and makes you feel right at that place. The script shines with believable reactions and decisions, understandable, deep characters, and despite the fact that we know where it is going to still manages to surprise and shock you. Must watch for every Star Wars fan, and still outstandingly good for everyone who loves Science Fiction.

Excellent performances, writing, and effects. Diego Luna is fabulous as usual. The tone is darker, with this show feeling honestly more like Bladerunner or Dune to me than Star Wars. They removed the space opera, the romance, the swashbuckling adventure, and it makes sense for this story. Still, I hope that Star Wars returns to fun adventure in future shows, but I also recall that The Empire Strikes Back was a profound tone shift from A New Hope, so trying new things is in Star Wars' DNA. Other than Mandalorian (which is gold), the other Star Wars shows have felt like good TV shows at best. But Andor transports me into the far far away universe again. It's a dark time for the galaxy, but hopefully a bright one for Star Wars stories! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After a few more episodes I upgrade my rating to a 7. It is still slow, but well written with a good story and Ep. 6 had some really good action as well. I was hoping for more of a thrill ride, but it is some of the best Star Wars I have seen in recent years.

Not the worst show Disney has done the last years, has potential, but currently fails to excite me. Andor feels like someone tried to turn depression into a TV show and it's sloooow. In addition it tries to be overtly dramatic in some places e.g. the prep talk to the guards, but scenes like this come over as bad comedy. Andor could also profit from an R rating, the show literally starts in a strip club with no strippers. Characters so far are not very memorable, the main character will be a problem for many, as he has no problem with killing. I don't need him to be a shiny hero, but I can see the problem. From a technical perspective it is good so far, haven't seen anything that I would lable bad cgi.

All in all the best Star Wars show after Mandalorian, not as abysmal as Obi Wan or Boba Fett, but it has to gain speed to get a better rating out of me.

So... 5 episodes into Andor and I'm still wondering if anything is going to happen.

I'm not sure why there's a following for this show.

The production is good, overall, but the writing is pretty terrible. The visuals, cinematography and score are pretty great. It feels like you're watching a movie. The dialogue is written well, but it's much to do about nothing... the acting is fine, but the characters are taking us nowhere fast. The sub-plots/side stories are pretty meaningless.

If not for the name of the show, I wouldn't even know this was Star Wars. It feels more like Krypton, but with less action... which is not a good thing. Krypton drudged along at a snail's pace with equally meaningless drivel, but at least there was a story that moved forward with action sequences and conflicts that meant something.

I think I've seen maybe 3 droids, 2 aliens, and zero alien creatures. How is this Star Wars and how is it remotely entertaining for people?

Look at the poster... looks pretty exciting right? It's not. Bait and switch.

Why the good reviews, then?

I think some have been beaten down with so much **** material, over the last few years, that they'll just accept anything that has good production value and zero wokeness as "good."

Andor isn't good. It suffers from weak writing, sub-plots that lead nowhere and provides zero reason for anyone new to Star Wars or Andor to remain engaged. I can't get the comparison of this to Krypton out of my head, because the two shows are very similar.

If you have to say "it's slow, but it's building up to something big" or "it's a slow burn, but it's good," or something along those lines, then it's not a good show. A good show shouldn't seem like a slow burn, or that it's building up to something big... it should give you a reason to become engaged and hang on. Even Star Trek or Babylon 5 could do that in 1-2 episodes... We're 5 episodes into Andor and nothing's happened.

The writing is tight, the scenes well acted. It’s Star Wars for adults. Where the movies tell the colorful (literally and figuratively) stories of the upper class-Jedi’s and Emperor’s and Rebellion leaders, and gang leaders—— this tells the story of the every day guy in the universe.

It’s gritty. Ever wonder what powers those glorious starships around the galaxy? Andor SHOWS you. And there is the distinction. Previous Star Wars TELLS you all the time with exposition and writing that conveys the obvious.

Andor assumes it’s audience can connect the dots for themselves. And there are many parallels to todays society. Corporations keep the people down. A scene where a man literally hammers a bell signifying the start and end of the miners work day and then blends into the excellent musical score, it can give you the feels. And the protagonists real talent is not light saber fighting or war strategy. His talent is relating to all kinds of different people and being true to his word. Something we see less and less of today. I recommend this show and proof that not all stuff made by Disney will be cookie cutter.

I'm four episodes into this series and all I know is that dude's name is Cassian Andor and that he's Kelarian, and looking for his sister, but then it turned into him trying to sell an innocuous stolen ship part for money, and now he's joining the rebels to steal Empire money and forgetting about the sister. Every line of dialogue with every character is "Who are you?", "Why is he joining us?", "You're a Klerian?", "That's not the plan", "That's not what I was told", "Give me money", and "Who are you?", and nothing that gives us any insight to the plot. All the leaders are female and overly questioning/distrusting of Cassian's existence in every scene. Look, you are either need him or you kill him if you're that suspicious. But why him? Why Cassian Andor? He's literally every generic background character on these planets. Apparently he's Kelarian, which is a noticeable trait. A flashback showed Andor's childhood as a Klerian, and they are actually a child tribal race that has zero technology, no civilization. Even the Ewoks on Endor had buildings. They fight using blow darts, BLOW DARTS! Against actual weapons. They don't even have spears or knives. And of course, its led by alpha girl-boss teenage girls, the boys just simply fall in line behind them. An imperial ship crashes and a basic soldier is able to take out members of this Klerian tribe, while 30-40 of these Klerian kids shoot blow darts at him which takes forever to take him out. And the Empire comes and takes out all the Klerian with no resistance. Andor is saved by some old **** named Maarva who spent her life keeping his Klerian identity a secret, why? Klerians are no threat to anyone. They have no abilities and no technology like a Mandalorian or even Mon Calamari. Like every modern Star Wars antagonist Andor lives a predictable rough life with no parents, and gets by stealing ship parts for money. Apparently, the Empire thinks very highly of this basic component which Andor later says becomes useless if it's plugged in or used. So then we change the stakes to Andor being recruited by some old dude who tells Andor "I know who you are Cassian Andor" and doesn't tell us anything else. And like every other male in the cast he answers to a woman. Expand

Aside from some very good acting, this is possibly the most boring thing I've seen coming out of the franchise. Waste of time.

It feels as though a creative team has been freed of the shackles that bound previous productions, forcing them to make streamlined “guaranteed successes”. Because of this freedom Andor is the first original and well told Star Wars story since the last Jedi. The writing and directing is masterful. The sets and art direction are beautiful. The act is phenomenal. I can’t get enough. A new standard for storytelling has been set by this amazing show and I hope that Disney will find talent that can meet it. Expand

And, if the writer of Star Wars Rogue is also the creator of Andor, you know what to expect, right? I like that. There have been so many crazy Jedi this, Sith that, and yet-another-Death Star stories, that it is hard for them to be unique in the end. I feel that Andor is the best Star Wars series since Mandalorian, with similar ideas on casual daily life outside of the Skywalker family soap opera. Andor is slow, yes. But we'll see. Expand

This series was never going to be vital watching in the Star Wars canon, but it seems the creators are more than content to make a meaningless piece of backstory as there is no real interesting hook or twist to make viewers care. Andor himself just kind of gets thrown into the story and goes along with it. The antagonists are just about as wooden and generic as you can get in Star Wars. I don't care about them and don't care about how Andor holds up against them. We all know exactly how this story ends so they might have done more to make us interested in what is happening right now. But everything is done with such a dreary tone it has missed a lot of what makes Star Wars fun and exciting. Sure, Rogue One was a more serious and dark Star Wars story, but it also did a great job connecting to A New Hope with some fan favorite characters and intersecting plot. Andor has none of that, and if you did not know his character from Rogue One there is little connection to the larger Star Wars universe for fans to sink their teeth into. All of this would be fine if it was telling an interesting original story with characters we cared about, but sadly that is not the case. This does not feel like a good Star Wars story or a good story on its own right, and Andor is certainly not a strong enough character to carry a bland and meaningless story like this on his own. Star Wars for adults. I really like the gritty, lived-in feel of Andor. Everything looks used...worn. The dude in the tower needs to chill. Can't say I like Rogue One at all, but Ikke this.

It's great to see regular people and how the empire effected them. It goes to show that when politicians talk about making things better, the working person gets left behind.

It's not perfect, but this is the most interesting thing that's happened to star wars in a very long time. I can't wait to see how the story develops.

The cast is perfect, you can actually appreciate the level of detail and production value, the cinematography and locations are incredible (for a Disney streaming show) and the story is pretty interesting so far, I know that Rogue One spoils the fate of Andor, but this story is promising and deepens the Star Wars universe nevertheless, I prefer new stories with new characters instead of watching my favourite characters being destroyed by social and political views.
