    Here's a thought - how about we let a female comedian write and perform a stand-up special with women as the primary audience, not men? What a novel idea!     It wasn't Amy at her best, but it was quite good once I grasped the concept of who the real intended audience was. It was a bit dark, a bit too real for most men, and so here we are.    … Expand

    This was funny, I'm glad I watched it. Definitely all about the sex jokes, depending on whether that's your thing or not. By the way, I just want to thank all the trolls -- I never would have noticed this to watch it without the news coverage of all the hate it was getting. So yeah, thanks guys!

    This special was perfectly fine. Not her best work—it won't reach the highs that The Amy Schumer Show has hit. But all in all, the special is full of perfectly fine jokes! That alone should give you an idea of how provocative Schumer continues to be.

    Jeez... it is a show with mostly sex jokes. It is about as funny as other shows about sex jokes. The timing is good. She clearly a pro.     Being a comedian has got to be a tough gig and I am impressed with those who have the courage to take the stage and make themselves a target for slings and arrows from the critics. That said, there seems to be a kind of sound barrier that comedians have to go through once they experience a great deal of success. Amy Schumer's leather special seems to suffer from that. How much more interesting would it have been for her to be honest and vulnerable about dealing with fame and fortune how it changes people. There has to be tons of humor to be found there, but instead she doubles down on drunk slut persona which, like with ACTUAL drunk sluts, is funny at first but gets old really fast. I hope that she can let her material mature and take on some more sophisticated nuances. She is very talented and funny so it is a little disappointing seeing her take the safe route with this special. It's okay to not always be the train wreck. Chris Farley got trapped in that persona and it contributed to his downfall.… Expand

So they have done what they can, and hunted her with online user reviews. They are afraid. And they should be. She's not a bad comic.     Let's be clear: vagina jokes can be funny, hilarious even. And Schumer has done those funny vagina jokes in the past. They're just not in this Special. Likewise, Schumer is a master at self-deprecating humor, but the punchlines have been replaced with "F you if you can't handle it."     I was disappointed that this particular set was fairly weak. The jokes were repetitive and lacked creativity. Always the professional, her delivery and timing was good, but she was let down by the content. Her TV show is far stronger and I wish that she was able to port some of that creative humour over.     Wanna know what I just did? I judged the special based on the quality of the jokes. This doesn't make me an "alt-right troll," because that's literally not how anything in life works. It does, however, make me a person who did not find The Leather Special at all funny.
    And since I feel like I need to add this- I'm a woman, and I don't think there's anything wrong with a woman making sex jokes or anything like that. However, this is comedy, and jokes ought to be funny, so I have to call this special a failure.    … Expand

    Disappointing that this special was so overloaded with sex jokes, (and I'm a Jim Norton fan FFS) I like them but it was so quick fire you could see almost every punchline coming. Her last special was much better, this routine seemed rushed and very repetitive, I've seen worse but not from her.....this was bad....reeeeeeal bad, sure her next one will be better.

    I've always though Amy was decently funny, if not pompous, self-righteous, and arrogant, while at the same time highlighting how disgusting and classless she is, which just gives self-respecting people a bad taste in their mouth. This special, though, is many orders of magnitude worse than her sketch comedy show.

    After being slammed for so many things in the media, so many stupid blunders, plus being a shameless slut-comic who has been regularly accused of stealing many many jokes, which either means she is a lazy thief or a lazy joke writer who touches on the lowest common denominator of topics that any raucous slutty female comic would also touch on(in her stand up, mostly), you think Amy would really put a lot of effort in this special. It comes off as though she barely cares. It feels like an awkward money grab. She gets on stage and forces out silly sounds, tired, disgusting jokes that aren't original or very funny, and just gives us the same old meaningless Amy Schumer.

    In the world of Joe Rogan, Dave Chappelle, Whitney Cummings, Louis CK, Bill Burr, Aziz Ansari, Hart, Gaffigan, Burress, Gervais, and Silverman, this special is a huge waste of time.

    GO WATCH: We Are Miracles by Sarah Silverman if you want to see a hilarious, intelligent, classy woman do amazing comedy that transcends any other show in a unique Silverman way. (P.S. I don't 100% agree with either of these women, but I respect Sarah's convictions and comedy 100x more.)

    Watch the specials back to back, Amy, if you read this, and just realize that we aren't trolling you, your comedy is actually just tired and **** Good luck climbing back from this one.    … Expand

    Well for starters I try not to allow other people's thoughts and ratings get in the way while attempting to watch certain shows for the first time. I go in not knowing how it's going to be and come out with my own thoughts about it. Which is the best way to truly enjoy something in my opinion because you're not sitting through the whole show expecting it to be bad. Now    Where to start?

Now you may look at my score for Amy Schumer: The Leather Special and assume I'm some type of "troll" trying to spread hate for the comedian. I understand. Most people when they enjoy a movie,game, etc they want to protect it by fighting back any negative thoughts others will have.

    But do try to understand not everyone will share the same opinions as you. After all that's what makes us human and unique in some way and I personally think negative reviews we will all receive in life one way or another will help us grow and better ourselves in the future for success. If you ignore what's bad about your work sooner or later you might fail as people will seek better actors,products,etc.
    So I hope Amy Schumer learns from what people have to say and improve her work down the road.

    Now when I first watched Amy Schumer: The Leather Special I was expecting it to be decent. A 3/5 stars at best. Usually what most comedy stand up shows will be gaven from me on Netflix other than Dave Chappelle was a 4/5 and Gabriel lglesias was a 5/5. Because their shows was like a roller coaster ride of laughter with some cool down parts to relax and enjoy the story they have to say.
    With The Leather Special it felt like I was on a kiddie ride with a person sitting next to me complaining how bad her junk smelled or anything to do with her sex life every 20- 45 seconds Which as a guy,I don't enjoy to hear. It's not funny but cringeworthy. Did not find the show amusing one bit. I even had to restart the special and ask my wife to watch it to see if it was just a male thing and she find the show gross and the way Amy tries to react a scene is weird.
    Also each new bit she starts is related to what she was saying minutes ago which the jokes doesn't stick.. She brought nothing new to the table. Now most people can pull sex jokes,and Amy may have been able to do it in the past but this time around I think she needs to work on her jokes and be more prepared next time.    … Expand

    Libertarian here... this is not a politically motivated review... Big fan of Amy Schumer, but this concert was just not up to par. Shocking just doesn't always mean funny. Maybe some "Trolls" were invested knocking her, but every fan who watched knows this was not her best work. Watch Amy Schumer's Comedy Central Show or Trainwreck if you want to laugh and experience how good her timing can be.

I still am a fan but wow this was bad. And I had just smoked half a bowl too.     Nothing new here., same material as her last special. It has been all downhill since 2015's Trainwreck. There is nothing really funny when she describes how nasty her female parts smell, just juvenile/grade school humor. If her upcoming "Snatched" movie bombs, she will become a mere footnote in comedy...

    Did she even prepare a set? She sounded like any drunk girl at a bar. Profoundly DULL and unfunny. Nowhere near the level of quality of her TV show. She is going to alienate her fans if she continues this way.

It's almost as if she wrote this standup specifically for really dumb frat boys.     you know how awkward it is when someone thinks they are funny but they are not or even the complete opposite? this was horrible, her Jokes only revolve around her vagina, how much of a "slut" she is or something along those lines, maybe some 12 year olds would find this funny but anyone above will most likely not

    I love stand-up comedy but this was just horrid. The audience barely laughed. She really needs to spend more time writing jokes that are funny and not just about female anatomy. I used to like her a lot but now she is just pandering to the Tumblrina crowd and it's just not worth anyone's time.

    I've liked Amy in the past. A lot. But I could not relate to a single thing she said in this 60 minute gross-out session. I was bored by this special. Some of her jokes did not make sense. How did she know her special lady parts had an offensive odor? Is she limber enough to stick her head down there? Or was the smell strong enough to clear an elevator? If it's that bad, somebody needs toI've liked Amy in the past. A lot. But I could not relate to a single thing she said in this 60 minute gross-out session. I was bored by this special. Some of her jokes did not make sense. How did she know her special lady parts had an offensive odor? Is she limber enough to stick her head down there? In the last 40 years I have had zero female friends mention having a vagina odor problem. 100 women surveyed. Survey says . . . XXX. I hung in there despite this rough start, but things never got better. Amy was not funny. Which makes me sad because I love to laugh. I'm old enough to have seen Bill Hicks live in a tiny club. The drinking jokes are getting old, too. Blackout jokes apropos of nothing fell flat. I hope she sobers up, grows up, and retools her act. She even burped loudly!     I have a pretty broad sense of humor, even the worst fart, toilet and sex jokes can get a laugh from me. None, I didn't laugh once during this special.
    She was funnier when she wasn't writing her jokes - assuming she write this set.
    It's a shame because she does have a great stage presence, and when she isn't making foul 'jokes' she is ALMOST funny.
    The special feels ultimately unpolished, cringe and gross. Without punchlines at the end of most jokes it's hard to keep watching without wondering - where she's going with any of this - other than 'this joke is an excuse to tell you I can still get laid'.    … Expand

    Very mundane stand up. Only so many times you can laugh at the disgusting cute girl trope. She should have stuck to stealing jokes at least with other peoples material she was kinda funny.

    I have watched only 15 minutes. That's my time limit. I have not laughed once during this time, So why bother. Content felt not worked on and just like internet general garbage. I don't recommend

    She’s absolutely as funny as she was two years ago, which was pretty darn funny. But the humor--most of it revolving around sex, body issues and relationships--feels dated.

    Ironically, the dirtier it gets, the less daring it feels. Part of the problem is that she doesn’t drop in enough context from her life of late, and the material feels like it could have come from a set three years ago.

    It's pretty much 85 percent sex jokes. The good news is that all the sex jokes are very funny! And even when Schumer turns her attention elsewhere, she still kills it. [10 Mar 2017, p.62]
