    This season is extremely overrated. It's partly a way for middle class Americans to feel slightly less guilty about where their food comes from (or more so, depending on who you ask). And it's partly preachy dreck with all the nuance of an episode of Law and Order: SVU.

    The actors display almost *no* range whatsoever when compared to their performances from previous seasons, though they're still decent. The show is still tiring, bleak, and depressing, just as it has been. I think it's a requirement that no one smiles in any episode, ever, that no one laughs, ever, and that there's no humor of any kind, ever. The show's intended effect would be greater if it weren't as quite as stiff. It comes off as being insincere and unrealistic for the sake of pushing an agenda.

    And why should anyone care about the black lady wanting a kid so bad? Her story felt like it was forced upon the other story to make room for more actors and feebly tie in the justice system.

    Edit: I've come back to lower the score after watching more episodes. Each episode is more heavy, depressing, and ridiculous than the last. It's almost as if their intention is to make the viewer want to self-harm after watching.    … Expand

    'American Crime' is so underrated. This new season promises to deliver even more drama than the previous ones. It's such a skilled TV show that crawls deep inside our skin and leaves us uncomfortable.

    ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS OF THE DECADE! American Crime has proven itself to be as good as the likes of other cable shows and raises the bar very very high!! If game of thrones is your best show of the decade, then this might become your second best!. Please watch this gem of a series and you will definitely not regret it. Hope it wins the most EMMYS this year

    **** incredible. best show on basic tv by far and its not even close. each season i watch to see how can they top last and they do it with ease. i love how they tackle issues of today and not do it in a preachy way. this is a need to watch series. sucks that their tv ratings aren't that good

    It is one of the top 3 shows on American television, and it has some of the worst ratings. Not a surprise in the age of Trump. This show should be on cable to have a chance. Putting it on ABC is like "giving jam to pigs". The vast majority of Americans are too dumb.

    This show, has got to be, the best show on TV at the moment, every episode is dirtier than the last, exposing the general ugliness which surrounds & pervades our society, when nice people simply look the other way. It's done so damn well, it's impossible not to watch in wrapt transfiction. *also of note, the synopsis on this site on this show should read "Luis Salazar (Benito Martinez)This show, has got to be, the best show on TV at the moment, every episode is dirtier than the last, exposing the general ugliness which surrounds & pervades our society, when nice people simply look the other way.     very compelling and underrated, a fan is born in me. Much more well executed than many shows of the same genre and has interesting character's and shocking plot points.

    This show has provided a unique and sophisticated platform for audiences to explore controversial topics. American Crime will not shove anything down your throat. It practices much more effective storytelling via character development, very complex writing, and camera shots that focus audience attention to the emotional impacts of the scene. The stellar acting seems to improve with every season. Between the very heavy topics explored, and extreme close up shots, American Crime actors must bring their A game. This is not an easy gig, and they all do it effortlessly.

    As a self proclaimed film and television enthusiast, shows like American Crime drive my passion for the entertainment industry. When used effectively, television and movies can be a perfect tool for developing general empathy for others. A glimpse into other situations that differ from our own but are no less important. As we follow these vastly different individuals, we are forced to realize how complicated and gray these situations often are. Even when our characters genuinely have the best of intentions, "the right thing to do" for them, may result in devastating consequences for someone else. These situations prove (in a very realistic manor) that life is messy, and often times there are no clear "right answers."

    It is impossible to leave an American Crime episode without a new understanding of issues that constantly divide us. Unfortunately, the ratings are a direct reflection of how many people are open to, or seek that understanding. As a culture and society, we need more shows and mindsets like American Crime, but we can't expect them to be made if nobody wants to watch them. Very sad. I will never understand the math that has allowed this show to be renewed twice, but I would bet money on this being the last season. Hopefully not, tell all you friends and family to watch American Crime.    … Expand

    The acting in this series is reason enough to watch this show - it's sensational across the board. The themes this season (based on the first ep) are very timely. Looks to be yet another engrossing and compelling season.

    It's okay entertainment, but the biggest turnoff for me is that all of the story lines of these episodes are written to bolster the political narratives of the left. When I began the show, I thought this series would be like the American Crime Story shows and show actual cases, but these were sadly not real or realistic. They were invented cases to move a political agenda.

    While American Crime surely is an impassioned and clear-eyed assessment of America’s socio-political dysfunction, the show it reminds me of is HBO’s far more metaphysical The Leftovers, another series questioning the mandate that TV be a good time.

    It’s stark, harsh and sometimes difficult to watch. It’s also some of the best-made television, dramatizing real-life issues that are as eye-opening as a slap across the face.
