Very great show that teaches you a great lesson about life, grief and how to cope with it. Ricky Gervais tells a wonderful story.

Touching morose awkward cheerful sad uplifting downbeat ..perfect. I think it's Ricky's best work since the last series of After Life. It's a must watch.

I thought this season was much, much better than S1. Lots of great small moments of Ricky bantering with the other characters ... plot be damned ... some characters are too cartoony (psychiatrist, Kath, Lenny) but when Ricky is going back and forth with someone not trying to ham it up it's really really good.

After-Life’s second season treads similar ground to it’s first, and as a result it does sometimes feel as though this show is repeating itself on occasions. Despite this, and the awful therapist character who scenes I decided to skip entirely in the end, there are some good laughs and genuinely emotional moments.

In the end After Life remains a show that is almost good, but it just has

Honestly, Season 2 felt very much like a retread of many things we have already seen out of season 1. There are some good laughs to be held but it's just not as interesting the second time around and largely because the characters really go nowhere. It's hard to care about these characters when they are given so little depth throughout the season.

Season 2 of After Life does have some touching moments, much like season 1, but it doesn't unfortunately add much to the story of our beloved foul mouthed Tony. It still is a realistic view of how to cope with the depression of losing someone but I don't think an extra season was needed.

Absolutely brilliant, Gervais does it again and somehow he has topped Season 1.

    Funny, moving, emotional, brilliant.

Dire, pointless rehash of the first series. Not funny at all and adds nothing new to looking at grief. First series was good, this is painful.

Simply stunning ! An emotional roller coaster. Ricky is a genius. I don’t think there’s anything that’s ever been written that will evoke such a contrast of emotion; such a high (laughter), then without notice a real low (tears). I’ve never experienced anything like it. A wonderful, beautiful, amazing piece of TV. My wife & I loved it. We cried & laughed together. Any person who ‘thinks’Simply stunning ! The first series is one of my favourite shows of the last few years but this was such a let down. I dont mind swearing but every second word is 'C**t' and it stops being funny. There isn't really a plot and it goes over and over Lisas death continually - we learned how much he loved her in series 1. This is like watching someone going through real grief and thats not funny or entertaining. The first series is one of my favourite shows of the last few years but this was such a let down. Not as strong as the first season but still a show well worth watching.
The dark humour and emotional punch is still there, just not as frequently as season one.

Gervais mostly finds a balance between humor and deep darkness, though he sometimes falters (far too much time is spent on an obnoxious therapist). And, like many comic actors, he seamlessly transitions to drama; even better, he poignantly walks the tightrope between despair and laughter.

Achieves new depths of feelings - and hilarity - in its second season. [27 Apr - 10 May 2020, p. 11]

Ricky Gervais' After Life was a bittersweet little gem, but the first season basically told a reasonably complete story. As a consequence, the second six-episode run feels as if it's essentially retracing old territory -- moving in places, but with less urgency, and more prone to silly detours to flesh out the run.
