    The 22,013th ripoff of "A Christmas Carol" would be bad enough, but "A Perfect Day" jerks us back to so-called reality with a tricky ending that left me more angry than uplifted.

    If straining-to-be-inspirational, card-shop stocking fillers such as A Perfect Day are the best TV can do, then really, leave us to contemplate the meaning of the season in peace.

    "A Perfect Day is a Christmas movie" only in the sense the movie's denouement coincides with Christmas. Otherwise, it's just a run-of-the-mill contrivance where problems are easily rectified and life can be distilled into greeting card sentiments.

    I liked it. Yes, it was a little sappy, but so what? Rob Lowe is great in this movie, as in anything he plays in. Great traditional family I liked it. Yes, it was a little sappy, but so what?
