  1. Poor casting is compounded by a ludicrous script.
  2. The movie harks back to a time before state-of-the-art technology when writers and directors had to rely mostly on imagination.
  3. The attempt to be clever is transparent.
  4. Can't sustain its narrative for a full 95 minutes.
  5. Funny, original, occasionally poignant and almost all of it too dirty to repeat in a newspaper.
  6. A warmhearted film.
  7. Missing a purpose.
  8. As cluttered as the movie gets before the ending, it's funny throughout, with some 1970s and '80s music thrown in to keep adults happy.
  9. A harsh and thoroughly unromantic examination of the scarring effects of war.
  10. The Dying Gaul has the best kind of story in that it unfolds as a series of surprises, and yet every step, twist and turn seems inevitable in retrospect.
  11. Compelling and frequently entertaining.
  12. An old-fashioned and family-friendly comedy.
  13. Yet, it's watchable -- not remotely enjoyable, but watchable.
  14. A romantic saga that dares to ask realistic questions.
  15. Basically, this is a really good movie until the last part, where director and co-writer Darren Lynn Bousman ruins so much so fast that you'll wonder if his actions are deliberate -- or if the studio interfered.
  16. It works as an intriguingly offbeat character study while offering Nicolas Cage a chance to show why he used to be considered one of the top actors of his generation.
  17. A compelling, tightly made political thriller.
  18. A rare chance to see a major cinematic work on the big screen.
  19. One is haunting and wonderful, one is very good, and one spoils the fun.
  20. If this documentary never quite makes the case for the deeper artistic or cultural imprint of the Ballets Russes, it does convey its enduring presence in these dancers' lives.
  21. Like most movies based on games, this film appears to have been quite literally doomed from the start.
  22. As a sports drama -- a genre that's gotten entirely too much play lately -- "Dreamer" is singularly unexciting.
  23. A film of wisdom, emotional subtlety and power.
  24. Visuals can't fill a spiritual vacuum, and Stay remains a pretty package that's empty on the inside.
  25. Has some hilarious moments and still succeeds in dramatic terms.
  26. Gut-wrenching.
  27. Powerful and depressing.
  28. An inspirational and cautionary film.
  29. You need not be a believer to appreciate its humor and humanity.
  30. An often tender and revealing documentary.
